Goodyear (Gemini chain store) won't honor my pro-rated warranty because of wear due to misalignment. But hell, what sporty rwd car is NOT going to have camber issues? I can mount them backwards and do some burnouts if need be
I'm pretty much in the market for 4 new tires at retail price, but just wanted to hear some firsthand accounts of Discount Tire's pro-rated warranties. I'm guessing it's not a linear treadwear-to-credit progression, so how exactly did it work for you? There are no specifics on their website. 12/2/2008 7:39:40 PM |

Back at tire kingdom/merchants you would be credited for mileage you didn't get once the tire is worn flat across at 2/32". We didn't say much if there was ~1/32 difference unless the customer was obnoxious. It was linear - if the tire was warrantied for 40k miles and you only got 30k out of it, you'd receive a 25% credit off of the original purchase price of the tire. We didn't cover misalignment either, to a point. For example if one side was 0/32 and the middle/other side were 2/32 I would give you the benefit of the doubt on the side with 2/32. I actually have a soul though which is why I quit. I can't guarantee anybody else in the company or industry would do the same. I actually got lectured for 20 minutes by my boss when I did that once.
I don't know specifically what their policy is but i'd assume its identical or atleast very similar. 12/2/2008 8:03:54 PM |

Seriously though, if a tire doesn't actually explode within 40,000 miles I feel the manufacturer has fulfilled its obligation to me.12/3/2008 11:23:53 PM |

well i dont know what tires you have but talking about them being on a sporty rear drive,
90% of z rated tires do not have tread life warranties. i know you are not talking about mani. war.
i used to work for gemini back in the day and it just plain sucked.
if you spend lots of money there they will hook it up. unfortunatly its not hard to tell missalighnment, or lack of rotation, but after all the places ive either worked at or shopped at, discount tires has the best prorated certs.
if you get there before the tires are to worn out they can actually give you credit towards your new tires.
what tires are you running right now 12/4/2008 12:03:16 AM |

I only buy from discount tire. They usually have the best prices and from my experience their warranty is pretty much hassle free. I've only had to use the warranty once when my wife hit some nasty pot holes. So, can't say how their warranty would hold up on tire wear. 12/4/2008 3:43:57 PM |
