so they're a little salted, and crunchy, like store-bought.I did some sunflower seeds back in 98?, and as I recall, they were pretty good. But, I had my grandmother's help.Whole foods only had raw seeds, so I intend to roast these myself. How do you know to do it/what have you heard or seen from family or friends? What I'm finding on google is basically to spray with pam/olive oil, sprinkle with salt, and roast, but the way I did sunflower seeds was to soak in salted water, and then roast.

i thought this was going to be something nsfw. like cooking up spunk for use in recipes
12/2/2008 9:54:50 PM
i think you should soak them in vaginal fluid first for that extra tangy flavor

can I still buy pumpkins? I bet I could find some cheap at the Farmer's Market. I would buy a couple just to make seeds. Maybe I will make a Christmas Jack-O-Lantern.

12/2/2008 10:07:32 PM
that does it, I am finding pumpkins tomorrow
12/2/2008 10:08:16 PM
my roommate just bought some raw seeds at whole foods yesterday, and we were trying to figure out how to cook them too. we put the oven to 350, put some olive oil and kosher salt on them, and roasted them for about 20 minutes. you gotta keep your eye on them though, they cook much faster than the pumpkin seeds with the shell, so you don't want them to burn. check them after 10 minutes, and every few minutes after. they are tasty.
12/2/2008 10:09:48 PM
if you get them fresh out of the pumpkin you don't have to add any oil at all. they are best that way in my opinion
12/2/2008 10:15:42 PM
I'm not planning on adding an oil anyways.I'll let TWW know how it goes!I did roughly .75T??? sea salt, and just a sprinkle of seasoned salt in ~2.25c water, and 3 handfuls of pumpkin seeds: 2 full handfuls, and one skimpy one. For the guys, that'll be about 2 handfuls, because I have small hands.[Edited on December 2, 2008 at 10:19 PM. Reason : def not even 1.5T to start with]
12/2/2008 10:17:32 PM
so you are soaking them in the seasonings? that will be good. I prefer to sprinkle them with salt while they cook as well. but then again, that is probably why my blood pressure is so high
12/2/2008 10:31:55 PM
1) soak2) roast3) ...4) PROFIT!
12/2/2008 10:51:11 PM
Added more sea saltDownside of this is that the grains are bigI did end up spritzing them briefly with pamThese are delicious now.

I'm going to whole foods and buying a shitton of seeds tonight. Also, if anyone wants some, paypal me some monies, and be prepared to pick them up (either in Garner, or by arrangement, on/around campus), or to pay for delivery.

It's both impressive and scary how disgusting these smell while baking.--I am gonna try and figure out a way to do a salt and vinegar flavor
12/10/2008 11:45:27 PM

12/10/2008 11:46:33 PM

Looks like ~250-275 in 6-10 minute rotations is bestPut it in, set timer, come stir, put it back in, stir...rinse/repeat, with shorter oven sessions each time.

This reminds me that I have a pumpkin I need to do something with.
