I got some the other day and opened them and they were white. They still tasted OK though.

over the summer it was litchi season where i was in south china

the people i was working with would bring in grocery bags of them

but would only let you eat like 4 or 5 per day

it being a "hot fruit" and it'd upset the body if you ate too many wihtout a cool fruit to reverse it.

idk, but they were pretty bangin
