my car's right turn signal won't blink, but both the front and rear light bulbs come on. the left turn signal works just fine. i'm thinking that maybe one of the light bulbs is reaching the end of its life, which ought to be easy enough to fix.
are there any other things i might need to look at, though? 12/5/2008 2:30:59 PM |

YEAR, MAKE, MODEL???
yeah, sounds like you've got a screwy bulb or one that's out that you've missed. sure there's not an extra light somewhere you've missed, like on the bumper or side of the fender or something? unlikely to be the blinker/turn signal relay since on side works. put your hazard lights on and tell us what happens. 12/5/2008 2:35:27 PM |

yeah, it's a bulb issue. something is up with one of them and it's giving a wacky resistance/impedance, the blinker filament is broken (in the case that car lights both filaments but only blinks one), or you've missed one that's out. doesn't that car have two signal bulbs up front?? corner and bumper? could be a wiring or socket issue too, but i'd put my money on a bulb first.

yeah, there are two bulbs on the front. it wouldn't surprise me if i missed something on the cursory inspection i made a little earlier, so i'll have to look closer later on.
thank you for your words of wisdom, sir! 12/5/2008 2:49:32 PM |

I had this happen after replacing a bulb before, turns out the bulb was burning the brightest setting constantly instead of the lower setting and then getting brighter for the "blink". I flipped it so the right pole was now on the left, and it was fixed. Does that make sense? 12/5/2008 3:23:38 PM |

try using some eye drops. Sometimes the turn signals dry out and need some lubrication. 12/5/2008 3:38:47 PM |

turns out that there are actually two bulbs associated with the rear signal lights. one was burnt out, but i didn't see it until i looked really close. new bulb and problem solved! 12/5/2008 3:45:58 PM |
