It's a 2009 Lexus IS250 with HID Adaptive Headlights, Premium package (heated/cooled seats with dark wood trim), and 18" Liquid Graphite Finish Alloy Wheels. 200 HP v6 Direct Injection... not fast, but not slow either. Ride is so smooth although very soft. Sport suspension may be on the Christmas wish list next year. Overall, I am very pleased. The Matador Red paint just glistens in the sun like Dorthy's ruby red slippers and the Black interior matches flawlessly. Picked it up with 32 miles on the gauge

DON'T BUY YOUR LEXUS FROM JOHNSON LEXUS... No badgers right? Wrong (I was badgered and wasted so much time there). They wouldn't even nego. on the car, and hell, they didn't even have the car I wanted. They tried to sell me on another one. So I called up FLOW Lexus of Greensboro yesterday. I said I had trouble with Johnson Lexus and I told them the specific car I wanted and the price I wanted it for. He said he had it and he raised me $146. I told him I would drive and sign tonight if he honestly had it and would give me my asking price. He agreed (1 minute phone conversation). Derek (the Sales Manager) is the man for making this happen so easily. He did have the car and even threw in a few extras since I trusted him and made the trip out there (2 umbrellas, a cargo net, wheel locks, and rear trunk mat, all extras I didn't ask for). The staff over there is exemplary as is their facility. So much better than Johnson Lexus. [/rant]

I guess skywalkr, TKE-Teg and I are all in the New Red Car Club. Who else?

^^^^ 3 series was sportier, but I wasn't feelin' it. I wasn't as comfortable in it oddly enough. I loved the 1 series, but it reminded me of my 944 too much. I didn't want 2 of the same cars. Plus the BMW people were assholes.

he has a sports car. he doesn't need to make up for the lack of a sports car with an overweight entry level luxury car which is still slow.

he bought the perfect car!!1

^^ lol thank you very much...

^^^^ Manual only comes in the IS250... Lexus totally fucked that one up somehow. Shifting was horrible (VERY clunky, felt like I had to "force it in," not smooth at all) and the engine would hang at redline for about 2 seconds (NO JOKE) even though I had the clutch depressed and already dropped it into the next gear. Lexus failed on the whole manual thing... Even their paddle shifters have shitty response time. But this car wasn't about "sporty." There's no difference between the IS250 and IS350 other than the IS350 have a 300hp v6, larger brakes that actually do feel more solid, and the fact that they only make them now with Nav. included (a waste of ~$2,400).

FWIW, it's RWD, which I appreciate (driving dynamics are different and noticeable and I hate torque steer). Also, it's the perfect size and I got ~34mpg on the highway on the way back. Lexus is the luxury line of Toyota just as Acura is the luxury line of Honda. IMO, Lexus > Acura.

If this was about money, I would have bought a Civic LX and called it a day.

Btw, VERY nice truck 69

Nice ride. I bought an '05 IS300 back in July and I still look forward to the drive to work every day.

It's truly amazing how the first generation IS (mine) and the second generation (yours) are absolutely NOTHING alike. The new IS250 is a completely different feel in pretty much all the major performance parameters.

Whenever the wife and I go out, I get to drive the IS250. Otherwise, I let her drive it around if she needs to run errands and when she commutes. I get excited just looking at it and I get a kick out of driving it (I love driving at night and just watching the headlights adapt to the turns ). I must say, it's a very comfortable vehicle. The 2.5L v6 has a peppy 200hp that's not slow by any means. Aesthetically, I favor the Lexus over the MB, BMW, and Acura equivalent. I think Lexus did an amazing job with their current IS series.

The new IS350 are surprisingly fast... With their port and direct injection setup, it'll only be a matter of time before someone finds a crack to tune the engine after slapping a huge turbo setup...

Three of the five red cars I own or have owned.

I don't really like red though. They just seem to find me.
