What would you choose for a "dare to be different" vehicle/project?

I've never really had any good ideas... but I love the creativity in this area moreso than in others.

How about an electric dune buggy?

Or an awd go-kart based off the subaru powerplant and drivetrain?

Or hell, just drop an ls7 in a 968.

hot rod tractor

seen it done with a 350 before on a hugeeee tractor

imagine if it was lightweight though, say like an old farmall or ford with a 351.

could be interesting.

been talking about an electric rock crawler for years. 4 wheels with 4 independant motors. no axles to break, etc

it would be very heavy if it was purely batteries

but a diesel-electric system could have some potential

^^that'd be pretty sweet.

I've honestly been toying with the idea of building an electric motorcycle that LOOKS like a R6 or 600rr type bike.

Welcome to 2004

ok, well no wheel motors, but from what i have heard they could be more or less prohibitively expensive

haven't heard a peep about this thing in years.

the batteries could be placed carefully to keep the center of gravity lowwww

with independant motors the articulation at each wheel could be maximized

no expense is prohibitive to this conversation, which is no more than fantasy to fight off boredom

Been there, done that, got laughed at. Alot. At every stoplight, in fact.

Of course, I'd say you're not really an Icy Hot Stunna unless small children scream in delight every time you drive down their street. "AWWWWWW TAWNESHA LOOK AT THAT WEIRD LITTLE CAR!!!"

Of course, I also had lots of random conversations sitting at stoplights, so that was cool. The only conversation I get in my daily driver is strictly the one-fingered non-verbal variety.

You know drive by wire is just an afterthought to an internal combustion engine. Just because the computer is designed to open the throttle does not mean an engine wont run when you convert it back to cable.

wouldn't work too well with a factory ECU though...

but the whole idea is to do something different

"We choose to do these things, not because they are easy, because they are difficult."

I'm going to go ahead and spill my plans, because they are about 4-5years in the future.

-1991 civic sedan DX...my shitbox
- modify the body and install a complete S2k drivetrain
- 16" 5-spoke wheels
- stock interior, probably stock paint (if the shit doesnt rust before then)

this thing would be a street driver and one helluva sleeper... until the rear wheels start losing traction might would even try for some type of forced induction, but my main focus would be on the chassis modifications.

Has anyone even done that before?

You're going to lose half the cabin making a transmission tunnel.

Inlinepro has a s2000 engine mounted in a FWD config somehow in a civic. I have no idea what transmission they mount it to. May be the most expensive way on earth to get 240hp in a civic.

I've never seen/heard of one before. I think it would be fun, and what a head turner a rwd civic sedan would be

concept image:

see how badass that would look

you could just build the engine for boost and not race people from a stop.

It wouldnt take but 200whp for that entire sedan to run a low 13.

Keep in mind just how retarded "hot rodding" a civic is.
