They had chicken n dumplings at the DUMC cafeteria about two weeks ago and I snagged some then.

Ordinarily, I'm more of a chicken n pastry gal.

my mom makes her dumplings from scratch. They are basically just strips of dough the way she makes them, but damn they are so good. maybe i will just get her recipe. She doesn't use a crockpot though.

in my family, dumplings are pattied out cornmeal (w/ a little water to make them hold together) about half-dollar sized. they are boiled with garden peas or spring onions (the green tops) from our garden. my granny is the only one who can make them where they don't fall apart. my gf hates them, but i love them.

we also have chicken pastry, but we don't eat anything that looks like the OP. granny used to roll out her own pastry, but now she just buys the atkinson's stuff from the freezer section and it's pretty much exactly the same. you just boil it in chicken stock and add your chicken back in at the end. good stuff.

In my family dumplings have pork inside, are boiled partway, then panfried and served with a soy sauce, sugar, sriracha, lime juice, green onion, sesame seed oil dip.

Dumplings can be made in different ways, that pastry is obviously different from either of the other two pictures you posted. Its all dough so it really doesn't matter, and what the point of posting that? I mean this thread is about eating, not about being an asshole and trying to prove a point which is frivolous.

All postickers are dumplings.
Not all dumplings are potstickers.

It's pretty stupid to argue a point and post a link when your own damn link prooves you wrong.
