i never wear hats and it's not stopping my hair from falling out

[Edited on December 18, 2008 at 10:37 AM. Reason : i'm hoping being fat makes your hair fall out so it returns whenever i get healthy ]

I have worn hats my whole life, and I still have a thick head of hair at 30

It looks like I'll be going bald and going blind at some point, if what they say is true

No, wearing of hats is not related to baldness. In fact, hair loss can occur due to following reasons:
1. hereditery tradition,
2. lack of proper and balanced diet and sleep,
3. improper care such as improper shampooing and/or conditioning etc.,
4. Side effects of medicines including hormones

Humm - knowing jacklags histroy - I'm SURE it was the hats. HAS TO BE.

How about how often you brush your hair? A routine scalp massage and follicle tug is good, right?

http://www.retane.com/hair-loss-treatment/hair-loss-myth.htm

Quote :
"Myth: Wearing Hats Can Cause Hair Loss

Unless the hat is worn so tight as to cut off circulation to the hair follicles, wearing a hat does not cause hair to fall out. Instead, hats can contribute positively by blocking the sun and preventing sunburn.

Wearing hat for too long especially in hot and humid climate, however, can contribute to the excretion and accumulation of sebum and oil on your hair. Sebum is a waxy substance that is secreted by the sebaceous glands in your skin onto hair follicles. Overtime, sebum can react with cholesterol to create a hardened sebum plug that cuts off oxygen circulation to the hair follicles and cause it to fall out. Sebum plug can also accumulate dirt and become a breeding ground for bacteria and contributing to hair loss."

Trust me, I hear it all the time too and it drives me nuts. I pretty much wear a hat any time I am not at work or sleeping.
