Place is awesome. Whole thing is devoted to NC STATE. 4 flat screens on a scoreboard with sports channels on them. You should definitely check it out. Oh and this one is open 24 hours like the old one was but besides the drive thru the inside will be open. I expect to see full chaos more so than we see at cookout inside that place next semester. Anyone been there yet?

went by today because I saw it was open now. I gotta say it is 5000% better than it was. Totally clean (obviously, it's new), looks really really sharp as far as aesthetics such as design and stone walls, etc, and it has some really cool NCSU & Hurricanes stuff.

Hardwood floor with WOLFPACK written across it at the registers, giant mini jumbo tron (oxymoron- large for in mcD's, not RBC sized of course) with the score of the '83 championship vs Houston on half and the 'Canes' stanley cup win on the other half. Pretty cool pictures and memorabilia with a some lighted, wall sized collages of wolfpack stuff.

Overall they did an A+ job remodeling it. It is everything you'd want in a McDonalds but yes, it is still a McDonalds/McCafe

add: oh the way they turned it really helps the inside. The focus inside is no longer looking out over Western, the windows all face the parking lot and back fencing - sounds ugly but looks much nicer than Western

[Edited on December 20, 2008 at 4:44 AM. Reason : and LCD screens are a sweet addition as well]

^ dunno if that was sarcastic or not. I'm not saying give them business because of what's inside, I'm saying it is what most state fans would want food joints around the university to look like. Kind of like how Amedeo's goes all out to be pro-NCSU

[Edited on December 20, 2008 at 4:46 AM. Reason : and when u compare it to other Western places, it is a big improvement for the area]

McDs drive through is nothing like cookouts.

at cookout you actually have 2 different orders and 2 different windows.

McDs just made it look like cookout, its still 1 person that takes your order just one by one and its one window to check out. they just have a decent plan and way to make it seem faster. when its really not. the line is just split into 2 so it doesnt look long.

McDonalds still sucks for not having the full menu all night. I don't always want a whole combo if I'm coming through after work. A cheap burger will usually suffice.

well, most of the food at mcd's isn't really bad, it's just not very good--if it wasn't for the ketchup there wouldn't really be a taste for most it

I've never understood drive-throughs anyway

You shouldn't be eating and driving, and if you don't have 10-15 mins to walk inside and eat your food you probably should review your life and time management anyway

plus it's a lot less likely that they'll fuck up your order if you're doing it face to face with someone

It looks very nice in there... except for one glaring mistake

They forgot the end quotes on the Valvano sign:

Why trademark a quote? I didn't even think you could do that....
That's fucking stupid.

(Are you sure it's not for his name?)

Can I put up a sign with that quote? or only if I'm not a foundation?

Well I hate McDonalds and avoid eating there, but I've got to give corporate or the franchiser or whoever came up with this props because this is an example of what other local businesses should be doing.

^definitely

i went to this place yesterday. Never seen a fast food place so decked out in favor of the local sports team. Its very intelligently decorated too, they have things that a State fan would appreciate (our few memorable moments in sports history) rather than a hodge podge of random sports memorabilia they picked up at thrift shops/yard sales.

its nothing about a foundation. its all about business. they use that for the V foundation. they dont actually sell something called "dont give up, dont ever give up -Coach Valvano"... but they use the quote to "advertise".

you can do the same thing.. but you would need proof of what you're advertising for. and a few hundred $'s

So I couldn't use that quote to advertise my foundation, right?
Aren't trademarks and servicemarks supposed to control or prevent something? In other words, no matter how trivial or indirect, are there any restrictions on anyone using that quote for any reason under any circumstance? Otherwise, why would they put that ugly R-circle there?
