12/20/2008 2:03:05 PM

12/20/2008 2:05:27 PM

12/20/2008 2:06:34 PM
i only use their card at harris teeter and the gas station. and i think if it was harris teeter i would have heard about it on tv.stupid gas station. then again, it does seem to happen often. i wonder what's considered a breach. think it could be something fairly innocent, like some employee saw a list of card numbers? (even if they had no intention of using any)
12/20/2008 2:07:39 PM
When I worked at Sears and Lowe's, I had capabilities of pulling every single credit card number that was used at the store in day, going back a few months.
12/20/2008 2:10:42 PM
thats disconcerting
12/20/2008 2:11:31 PM
hmm, i guess that means secu had reason to believe that our cards were in danger. must have been something malicious!!1
12/20/2008 2:12:20 PM
^^well at Sears, they've since changed it so you have to have manager approval to go into the journal history. And at Lowe's, the only people that have access are managers and people who work at the customer service desk.
12/20/2008 2:13:27 PM
yeah i remember when i worked at lowes foods, i could pull up a register journal that contained every transaction that register had made for the day... and it contained full credit card numbers...i always wondered why the fuck we did thatthen i remembered our POS system was from the early 90s.
12/20/2008 2:17:02 PM
back in the early 90's, you could card stuff without any additional information too. just the CC# and expy. funny how the amount of credit card fraud has actually gone up since then.i was pretty down and out when i went to AZ, so my dad gave me his credit card to use to get out there, and mail when i get back. i thought it was wild i could get across the whole country and never get carded once.
12/20/2008 2:20:56 PM
It's actually against the Visa/Mastercard terms of use to ID if the credit card is signed.
12/20/2008 2:37:52 PM
I'm sorry, evan.
12/20/2008 2:40:57 PM

12/20/2008 3:26:30 PM
i try to change card numbers every 12-18 months anyway
12/20/2008 3:30:25 PM

12/20/2008 3:32:06 PM
