here in tech talk but i figure this would be the best place to ask if I use itunes on my computer but I basically have all my music saved elsewhere on my computer so I can burn CDs as I see fit. is it better to just use the legal itunes shop or is their a better system or company to go through if your actually going to pay for your songs? also, if I chose to just use something for free, whats the best one in that perspective?

Good luck with whatever problem you have.

Alright, yes that was bad but I am tired and just shooting out a post.

Here is my situation: I use Itunes on my computer to play my music but I save my files so that I can burn them on discs more efficiently.

My question: Is it better to use Itunes or another company such as rhapsody, emusic, or amazon to download songs based on my usage? I ask this because of the copy rights management of the files that each company has, i.e., you can download it but you cant necessarily do whatever you want with the music file.
As well, I am wondering whether I should just continue to use free download programs such as limewirepro or go the legal route with Itunes or one of the other companies.

if you're going to buy your music, i'd go with amazon until apple decides to drop DRM

this is called DRM, or Digital Rights Management.

you shouldn't use limewire unless you're a fucking moron.
with that being said, if you still think limewire is a good place to obtain music, i doubt you'd survive very long using any of the other methods.

it mystifies me how you attained the rank of lieutenant.

ITunes is probably the simplest way to buy music, especially if you use the same program to manage and play your music.

But like some have suggested, music purchased from ITunes has copy protection on it, so you're somewhat limited with what you can do with it. I believe you can still burn it to an audio CD, but it's difficult if you want to move the song to another computer or try to play it with a different music player (windows media player or winamp). Isn't the iPod the only player that supports downloads from Itunes?

I highly recommend Amazon for music purchases. It's just as cheap and they make it easy for you to download the music from their website and import it into your music player. You're also free to do whatever you want with the file: move it to another computer, put it on any kind of mp3 player, etc.

Amazon and iTunes have made it extremely easy and cheap to legally purchase music. In fact, I think it's simpler than using a program like Limewire. The last time I tried to use Limewire, most of the results I got were junk, loaded with viruses, and just wasn't what I was looking for.

itunes:
burn to cd? yes, you can burn tracks an unlimited number of times, but you can only burn a playlist that contains a fairplay-encrypted track seven times before you have to change the playlist around
you can have the files themselves on any number of computers, but only five computers can simultaneously be authorized to play the file. you can deauthorize/authorize computers as often as you'd like. you can deauthorize ALL computers (useful if you reformat or something) once a year.
you can have the tracks on an unlimited number of ipods.
you can only play the files on devices that support FairPlay (right now only the iPod and iTunes)

the fairplay DRM scheme has been cracked, however - look at the HYMN project.

in a lot of cases, Amazon is somewhat cheaper than the iTunes Music Store... and everything's DRM free!

^thank you

^^evan really i basically dont even read your posts anymore because frankly...i dont see much intelligence coming from a fat faggot like you.

so im sorry that my POST ON TWW was not gramatically correct for you but some people are smart enough to realize what people mean with shorthand descriptions.
so if you want to challenge me to figuring out why I am a Lt. in the USMC, why dont you come say it to my face you fat fuck.
and i will show you why my commander who was an infantry officer was begging me to switch from air contract to infantry (which if you didnt figure out is a big compliment)

lol

it appears that we have an internet tough guy on our hands

good job on jumping to the "fat faggot" insults first - you're way ahead of the game.

if you haven't noticed, i'm actually a pretty nice guy. i just don't really have any tolerance for incompetence.

also, that wasn't shorthand; it just didn't make much sense.

Based on your usage I would recommend amazon as well. DRM free and no wacky library to screw up your folders.

as far as his intelligence, he may have been an EMT but I think my more than adequate grades to receive my BS in Biological sciences, Microbiology, and genetics would put me ahead of the curve. I am a Lt in the USMC with high marks for aviation. So I doubt he is smarter than me because he can memorize and apply information to be an EMT. Since I for one was also working on my EMT and found it very easy.

the fact that I choose to be retarded on here and not use correct grammar is irrelevant. if that is your basis, well i feel very sorry for you.

but nonetheless, I really could care less about most people on here. For those that answered my question, thank you, it was helpful.

Depending on what kind of music you like, a lot of iTunes songs are iTunes+ which has NO DRM on it.

Unprovoked? This guy

A) Can't or didn't bother to use google.
B) Can't or didn't bother to use TWW's search feature to look for one of the millions of threads already made about iTunes.
C) Didn't bother to title his thread with anything even resembling a clue as to what the thread was about.
D) Can't or didn't bother to even attempt to make his question legible enough for people that wanted to help him to be able to easily do so.

and semi-unrelated to this thread, but no less true,

E) Has shown a supreme lack of intelligence with pretty much so every post he's made in the past.

I think evan was within his rights to give this guy a little bit of shit(while actually helping him, I might add). He's certainly not the only one that wondered how someone so seemingly dimwitted managed to be promoted to anything other than assistant fry-chef at McDonalds.

yes, EMT (basic) is very, very easy, as they can't really do anything whatsoever... EMT-I is more difficult because you start doing ALS stuff...

paramedic is not easy and requires a huge time commitment.

i'm also almost done with a BS in human biology and a BS in chemistry

(also, the mere fact you believed gunzz's observation was based solely on my medical credentials further proves my point)
