When I was really young I remember going to my Grandma's neighbors' with my cousins and singing in their backyard w/ their grandchildren for all the adults, but we never went door to door. These were fairly young children sans-parents. I'm not sure I'd be comfortable letting my kids go door to door to strangers' houses without me.
