Like the title says, I'm in the market for a 24" gaming LCD. I've been reading the reviews and the only thing I've run into is arguments over how bad TN panels are. Anyone here have any recommendations?

I have ~$300 to spend, but would probably wait for a "slickdeal."

tn panels are pretty bad. I managed to snag a Westinghouse 24 about a year ago and I love it. Turns out it is an MVA panel. No backlight bleed at all and really deep blacks. So, if you can find an MVA panel I recommend it.

Also check hardforum.com in displays. Good advice there.

^22 is easier on gaming too. 1680 by 1050 compared to 1920 by 1200, but no 1080p movies.

How is this compared to the rest? They have it on sale at the outlet store @ $260.

Thanks for the replies. It looks like I missed out on that ncix deal by a few hours.

TN panels are supposedly more suitable for gaming because they have "much faster response." I got the other kind --

soyo 24" FTW. Great panel for $rhode island

^thats a TN panel, fyi

Looks like the soyos may be TN, now. Beware. There was controversy over dell quietly changing their panels, too. They would be MVA for the initial release, they racked up good reviews, then they would switch the panel.

Apple also got into trouble for putting TN panels into their things

there's nothing wrong with TN (the newer TNs) unless you need complete color accuracy, for most things, most people can't tell a difference, and yes, they are best for gaming.

topaz s monitors made after dec 07 may have TN panels in them. The response time on the box will let you know what kind of panel it is.

anyway, the anantech thread is the bible for this shit.
