Eh...it's fast and fills my tummy. Not the greatest, but it does the job. I like the rice bowls and the gyoza. Haven't tried the sushi b/c that's $$ I'd rather spend at a high-quality sushi place.

The place in Mission Valley and the one near UT are, in my opinion, far worse, especially for the money. None of those places are going to have decent sushi, you know that going into it.

Are you talking about Akari Express in Mission Valley??? If so I kind of enjoy the hibachi they have there.

They're slow...not the 'worst'. There are other places that have much lower standards.

The place near UT is the worst for food, period. Nothing like ordering wings and having them still raw and cold in the center.

I think it's pretty good, especially for Japanese fastfood. Though, I haven't tried the sushi, because I don't like sushi.

average jap steakhouse > hibachi express > hibachi sushi > sakura express >>>> akari

i still eat at akari every now and then, but they pre cook all their hibachi stuff, which means it doesn't taste nearly as good. they just grab a few lumps of meat and a spoon of veggies and off you go

When I first went there it took them 10 minutes to get my order in and the put it in wrong four times. Then, I swear to god, a 10 year old kid rolls in and starts running the register.

The food is subpar. The only thing they didn't screw up was the edamame (hard to screw up) and the veggie tempura.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one...but instead they have charged me more than $20 over the course of 4 purchases (one time they wrote in over a tip for over $10)

After talking with the manager too, I've decided I'm never eating there again. She was extremely rude and I haven't seen any of that money back.

If you want to get money from your credit card charged without you knowing, and want subpar food, this is the place for you!

that is why you always either put $0.00 in for the tip and fill in the total blank with the actual total

or just put a line through both of the blanks

hmm.... I thought it was decent for the price. and they usually have a hard time running things when there's more than 1 person in line. ^that's fucked up though.

Yeah I had no idea what to do with the stuff there. I figured if there weren't any visible trash cans or a place to put your tray they'd bus like Bojangles'.

Not like I'm ever going back.

i put a line through but i guess that wasnt enough. it is pretty easy to turn 7.23 to 9.23 though. i thought about fighting it. for visa my first course of action would have been to print out my statement and take that, along with the receipt to hibachi and try to get my money back. if that doesnt work, then thats when you are allowed to open a claim. too much work for $2. i would rather lose my $2 and make them lose business by telling people not to go there.

i will continue to give my business to the guys up at Akari up in mission valley. their food is a helluva lot better and has similar prices to most hibachi places and they dont write tips in

pan near the bathroom? the only trash can there is up front by the door.

unless we aren't talking about Akari.

I go there at least once a week, find it QUITE edible for a hole in the wall.

yeah, I think some of you are talking about somewhere else. The first time I went there they told me I could leave my shit on the table....that was months ago.

and I've had worse sushi at SEVERAL places in Raleigh.

you're crazy. they pre-cook all their hibachi meat and vegtables and just slop it on your plate after you order. its decent, but it's far from good.

hibachi sushi cooks it when you order it, and theres tons of [crisp] veggies and the meat ( i get beef) is usually cooked perfectly

I tried the pineapple fried rice once (take out) and it wasn't that bad but there wasn't enough pineapple and after I ate all the pieces the rest had very little flavor. Huge portion though.

What? Akari was mediocre when I went there, and IMO overpriced.

agreed, though the hibachi is pretty cheap when they have the specials...something like $5-$6 with drink

I can't eat hibachi, and the sushi rolls were really small. Meat was skinnier than my pinky finger, and at $5 or $6 for a roll with nothing else in it that's just not worth it. I can pay $5 or $6 a lb for fishies and make my own, which I do now. Add some avocado and cucumber and it's much better.
