i'm gonna go cliff claven here and make a statement i assume should be self-evident but may not have anything to do with the information presented

tww doesn't have much of an international following, so the load that would have been carried by those cables is non-existent, meaning there is not an extra taxing on the cables that weren't cut

sites like myspace and facebook have huge international traffic (something like #8 and #5 global pageviews respectively)

so if you have 3 of the 4 pipes connecting their servers to the rest of the world go down, that last pipe is going to essentially flood them with requests and would probably work like a DNS server attack

but hey, thats just the theory that popped in my head...
