On another message board I was shocked to find so many people in their early 30's and late 20's saying that they don't get excited about New Years Eve. The issue came up when someone asked if they were the only person who didn't care about NYE. I say NYE and Halloween are great because of the parties. It's not about being polite in front of the family tree.

new years typically turns out to be fucktards who never go out planning a night around it, getting stupid drunk and acting like assholes to everyone they meet all night long because 'it's a special occasion.'

to me its fun, but not any more so than like.. the super bowl (which if any of you know me, i enjoy for the commercials as much as the football), or say someone else's birthday or st. pattys day.

The other year we were in Costa Rica for New Year's, and they basically didn't even seem to recognize it as any kind of event. I think American's have just made it a giant excuse to get drunk and kill people with their cars.

I call NYE "Rookie Night", due to all the motherfuckers that only get drunk one night a year and can't control themselves. If you go downtown then you are taking your life in your own hands.

This year I am having a party at my place. Probably about 20-30 of my close friends, and I don't have to worry about catching a cab or avoiding a fight.
