end of year sales, mang. dealerships were giving them away. last day for tax stuff. some dealerships were even taking loses, so that they could write them off of taxes. If they keep inventory, they pay taxes, if they lose money, they get to write it off. Seeing as how no one is going to pay premium for cars right now, the best they could do was either take the loss and write it off or practically give it away

and I don't forsee truck/suv prices falling much more. they're already rock bottom, production has halted, and when it the big 3 start production again, I bet you they won't be making too many large trucks/suv's until the economy starts back up. by next summer there may even be a shortage of such vehicles. Get it now while prices are low and what little financing is available

Employee pricing is what I think they call it.

I just bought a new 08 $33,000 truck for $22,000. Used 08's in my area with about 6,000 miles on them or more were selling for $24,000. It was cheaper to get a new truck because of all the rebates and incentives. I hate to say it but you missed a great buying opportunity.

i wasn't looking to spend but like $10k max on a used full-size 4wd so i'm not sure how much those deals would have helped me

i'll just wait until summer gas panic mode sets in and see what happens then

i'd get even smaller if i could actually fit in smaller

[Edited on January 2, 2009 at 1:50 PM. Reason : being 6'8" and 350+lbs. means if fit in like 3 car models comfortably :/]

just keep an eye on craigslist and eBay and something will pop up sooner or later.. the key is being patient.

are there models in particular you're interested in?

my criteria are as follows:

1) can fit in comfortably
2) can hold big shit in the truck
3) 4wd
4) reliable

other than that i couldn't care less

[Edited on January 2, 2009 at 1:54 PM. Reason : not looking to buy right this minute, just wondering if there will be any better times before summer]

You can buy my old truck off me for $5,250 if you want. I blew the intake manifold gasket because I was using Dex-Cool antifreeze(1st mistake) and that ate through my gaskets. I had a mechanic break it down, I cleaned out the intake and surfaces, we're putting some new injectors in it, gaskets, etc. Once we get it up in running I'll PM you and see if you're interested.
