Ends up our old man MoJo just has cat scratch fever (Bartonella henselae). In fact, he had the highest level of infection the blood test would register. Yay, plague kitty! 21 days of azithromycin FTW!

How dis your cats get sick? i told my cats about getting sick so they know the deal - stay healthy and live or get sick and get put to sleep to avoid vet bills.

Mojo came sick, but we didn't know it at the time. When we picked him up at the shelter last December, he had some upper respiratory symptoms and so he was treated for an URI. When it didn't pass, the vet assumed he had herpes, given his eye problems (discharge, swelling). Our new vet looked at him late this December and suspected B. henselae.

To be fair, our cats (all 5) are pretty low-maintenance. Sometimes they just come broken and need a little work.
