Have a place for rent on craigslist and got a normal sounding response, so I sent back some information on our requirements along with questions regarding his specific request, this is what I got today;

i mean if you just say what the place looks like and the rent, it's not gonna be mean jack shit unless you have location. Plus rent depends on location too. No one wants to pay $1200 a month for a 2 bedroom apt out in the boonies. That maybe cheap in NYC though.

^btw, that's too confrontational as a landlord. You will scare off a lot of people with a disposition like that. It means you are up tight and may potentially be a bad/annoying landlord. An overly protective landlord is not good for business unless the place is dirt cheap.
