Well, I am not in a pinch and I don't need it now, but I know that I can get some practical use out of this thing sooner or later. And besides if I never open it I can get my 20 bucks back

i got the midland 2-mile radios for $2.50/each at ace hardware a few years back (some labor day sale or something)

they do the job, though i've found their range to be more like half a mile instead of 2

at that rate, count on these having about a 3-mile range under normal conditions...3 miles is pretty far

yep, you'll only get 12 miles out of them if you're on flat land with no obstructions (trees, houses, etc.)

you'll probably get a few miles of range

Spend $20 now...
Or keep your money and risk spending $25 when you actually need it.

I'd just hang onto my cash under those circumstances.

a quick google products search shows these costing about the same everywhere, and this is $4-5 cheaper

*shrug*...if you think you'll use them, but don't need them to be the latest/greatest/most rugged, it's probably a decent deal

I like them as 'toys' per se, not for rugged use.

Depends on how long you keep them at Circuit City

these come in really handy on road trips where you have to take more than one car.

If you're getting one for you and your 12 y/o nephew so that you guys can play Army Men, then it is worth $20.00.
