Any other police bike I've seen in NC was a harley, so while seeing a cop using a BMW doesn't surprise me, seeing a cop in NC using one does.
I'm just surprised I haven't seen a trooper on a bike at all before now. 1/5/2009 5:04:47 PM |

Didnt the state troopers sue harley davidson due to the bikes being unstable at 100+ mph? 1/5/2009 5:52:30 PM |

The bike squad got suspended for a while because they kept killing themselves.

when it gets warm I see 4 state trooper bikes out on US-64 near cary parkway. I stopped one time and noticed 2 were bmw, the others were Harley's. Out by Morrisville, there's one or two biker cops out there, but both are Harley's. In Florida, there's a sheriff's department that has a custom Honda 600rr donated by a local bike shop for their support. 1/5/2009 5:56:37 PM |

haha when i read the original post I thought you were talking about bicycles and that the trooper had his bike strapped to like a 3 series or something
It would trip me out to see a state trooper 3 series, but they've had bikes forever. You just don't see them as much as in some other states. 1/5/2009 8:34:40 PM |

Yeah SHP has had them for years... bmw and harley's. Raleigh PD, Cary PD, Morrisville PD and Garner PD also have motor units riding around. I know WSO had bikes, but not sure if they still do. 1/7/2009 11:41:27 AM |

I see cops on bikes in Winston all the time, especially on 52 and downtown, BMWs and Harleys both
On Sundays, you see moto-troopers every ten miles or so on B-85 between 40/85 and 311 1/7/2009 7:50:28 PM |
