itll be tough to beat time warners offerings. Even the channels that aren't in HD still look good. Direct tvs main draw is more HD channels - if you actually WATCH those channels

BUT. . .I had a cable box from TWC about a year ago, and it wouldn't work w/ my HDMI cable. had to run component, and it royally pissed me off. i know a lot of others had the same trouble. is that shit fixed yet?

NO we just got a tvnot fixedusing component. kinda (REALLY) dumb.p.s. it will also be hard to beat time warner's excellent customer service[Edited on January 5, 2009 at 9:06 PM. Reason : .]

Time Warners excellent customer service? Whaaaa? My HDMI connection works fine, however, the HD box itself sucks balls big time. Currently have a dish network and directtv tab up in my browser look at plans. UVerse is supposedly avail in the area, but I'm not eligible for it yet.

yes i love them they are soooo efficient

man, I don't even give a fuck about TV. I've been using over-the-air signals, picking up ABC, CBS, Fox, etc in HD for a few months, and im relatively happy with it. I fucking refuse to pay $50 a month for some TV shit. that's expensive brain deterioration.that said, with my antenna, are there going to be a few more channels available on Feb 17 in HD?

I have DirecTV and I will never go back to TWC unless I am forced to.I don't really feel like going into details because I have been pretty outspoken about this for the past several months. There is nothing that TWC does better than DirecTV imo.

The directTV HD is 100x what Time Warner has to offer. Their lineup makes sense. Say your SD channel is channel 30. HD would be 30-1 or 30-2. Time warner would make your HD channel #327. DirectTV also has a MUCH better HDDVR than time warner ever dreamed of having. And they just added that new record from the web option when you're killing time at work.Dish Network has the new TurboHD package - it's not got 100% of the channels, but every single channel is HD. It's definitely the right price too.For internet I've always dreamed of a FiOS connection, but if you can't get that the 16Mbps connection from Time Warner is dang hard to top.

^ yesand DTV's customer service is tops!

. . .the dish stuff actually looks perfect w/ what I need. I need maybe 15-20 channels, and they offer a lot of different packages.

^I helped set the parents up with Dish Network. Great service, fast installation, and their standard def DVR is my favorite on the market. HDDVR is top notch, but not the same as DirectTV - DTV is in a whole upper class (I think their stuff is manufactured by TiVo.)Dang just re-looked at the TurboHD. $30/month for everything I watch in HD except science and nat. geo. Definitely worth looking into. You used to get $3 or $5 off your monthly bill if you hook up a phone line to your box so it can phone home with your viewing statistics.
