long story short, i have to complete 20 hours of community service by january 26th or i get a misdemeanor (being in cary park after dark!!! ), but i'd rather not have that on my record.

i need ideas people! where's a good place to volunteer?

requirements:
- flexible schedules (because classes start tomorrow)
- non-profit
- allow me to get this shit done in 19 days

animal shelter is about as flexible as it gets. I did that in high school and you could sign up for as little as an hour to as much as you wanted per day.

I used to volunteer at Cameron Village Library and I know they had people there on community service hours too. We pretty much just alphabetized/shelved books, checked them in, sorted em, etc. Was really chill. If I had the time I'd do it again.

I did 75 hours hard labor in a Christian thrift store in Nashville, NC

they were real tight asses about it too - had to go in on my last day to complete 30 minutes

mostly I dusted stuff

just spend two weekends with Habitat

when I had to do community service, I did it at D.H. Hill. It was pretty easy work, even though it was sorta boring.

I got a job there once I finished up my hours (granted I put in around 250 hours)

I did community service at Lake Johnson. It wasn't so bad. They just had us pick up trash, but we'd disappear or just walk around for a few hours. Helped get people into and out of paddle boats, that bull shit. It was nice though since it was during the spring. Weather was nice, and I'd get blasted before going in.

I got busted with a fake ID (wow...way back in the day now...ick) anyway, I volunteered at the Art Museum. It was perfect....so easy and I actually used it as an internship on my resume

Food Bank of NC is really flexible. go in any time tues-fri... you just have to attend an orientation on a wed. at 5:30 pm (which they count) before they accept any hours.

my county has shit for options right now and working full time i'm even more SOL.


looks like i'll be donating much of my time to the Goodwill store until the weather warms a little bit. Then hopefully i'll get some other options.

we have community service people work with us sometimes. central campus housing maintenance. we won't ask you to do much. pretty much just chill and tote a few tools occasionally. you can do it any time between 8am-5pm (12-1 for lunch). PM me if you're interested.
