This diamond belonged to my family and it has been appraised:

Measures approximately 7.86 x 5.19 x 3.71 millimeters (very thick girdle) and weighs by formula approximately 1.20 carat. The diamond is approximately GIA color grade I and clarity grade I1.

The appraisal gives this diamond Retail Replacement Value of $4,700, and I was told to expect anywhere between $2,000 - $3,000 for this. Craigs List has been nothing but people trying to scam me so thought I would give you guys a try again. I'm willing to part ways for this on the cheap. If anyone is seriously interested please let me know if you would like to take a look at it.

so, I take it she said no

for the record though, when i got divorced my ex was kind enough to allow me to sell the ring to try to at least get what I still owed on it. It took me MONTHS to sell it on eBay, and I got nowhere near what it is worth. unfortunately, you are most likely screwed unless you trade it in at a jeweler for store credit.

^ Yep. I tried taking it to a jewler and they said they couldn't keep a diamond that big on hand because they couldn't spend the oney now to wait on it getting sold. Was pretty weak. Either way its a really nice diamond for cheap if anyone's interested.

And for the record I didn't propose with this ring or anything. Girlfriend didn't want a big diamond so we went with something else.

and the jeweler wouldn't let you trade that sucker in on the smaller ring and give you store credit for the remaining balance?

What about taking it up to NYC to the Diamond District? Lots of gem traders up there.

G.O.D - the diamonds are on loan to the stores. they aren't gonna out themselves a few grand to possibly sell something. try a consignment shop (they sell it for you and each of gets a cut) that or ebay
