I am gonna go with either of the Dakotas. Has anything valuable ever happened in either place? I think not.

South Dakota wouldn't work...then you'd just have a 77,000 square mile rectangle inside the continental US that wasn't part of the US

Delaware

North or south dakota

West virginia

mississippi

arkansas

alabama

montana

idaho

pretty much every state without one of the four major professional sports teams

and I'm not basing it on them being worthless because they don't have a team

but because any state who's biggest city isn't deemed worthy of housing at least 1 professional team is pretty worthless to the country as a whole

WV was my first thought because they don't contribute much to the economy or culture. We could always replace WV jokes with SC so that works too. The problem is that they have an unbelievable ATV trail system that I wouldn't want to disappear. With that in mind I think I'll keep my eyes open for another choice.

I'm going to say Rhode Island based on value of land. Delaware has a lot of industry, like Dupont, etc.

My original answer was to be Hawaii because of it's location. You could still vacation there, but then I think it is a strategic place to keep military bases, so we should hold on to that.

Michigan

it's kind of like an old dog, some good old memories, still looks good in pictures but on paper its a wash. We just need to make peace and take it off the map. At least the upper peninsula at a minimum.

I love looking at a map of the US. It just looks like they got tired of fighting over land when it was time to move out west.

The states are just HUGE out there lol.

A lot of the northern mid-west has no draw for me at all. Neither does the midwest at all, basically anything between TN and CO.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:US_states_by_GDP_per_capita_(nominal).PNG

Um, most-er than the 8 that MO borders?! I thought 8=8 and therefore not 8>8.

i'll stand behind West Virginia and say that they have some great skiing. Also its a beautiful state to drive through. The New River Gorge is awesome and rafting on the Gauley river is bees knees.
