one of my personal favorites is the nissan rb family. the stock rb25det i swapped into an s14 that had 2.5", no cat and a 40 series flow sounded great

they really sound amazing with a healthy cam lope

In the more common arena its real easy to make a (v8) mustang sound great
equally easy to make one sound like a trash truck though

friend of mine has a fox body with a built 302 and two very large turbos. that thing sounds pretty sick.

I've always loved the sound of International four cylinders, and the bigger ones sound better. The M's and H's sound good, but the f-20's and F-30s with no mufflers from the factory are the best.
