2 months ago I found myself with a visitor. A large mesh-black vessel appeared in the dining room unexpectedly one day with a strange green creature inside. He didn't move except for his beady eyes, darting here and there. I was informed later that I was the new caretaker of this veiled chameleon 'Grismond'. He was a bit neglected but is in better health now and is living happily in an artificially UV soaked corner of my room. I sent a PM to Kittyb given her alien knowledge and she helped me up the learning curve. There are a lot of interesting things about this guy but his food in particular since he eats live insects; usually crickets but I have been giving him wax worms and superworms recently as well.It is the superworms that we will be watching here over the next month or two. I have separated two of them from the herd in their own individual containers, and within a week or two they will look like a spawn of the devil as they morph into stinky beetles. Hopefully then the beetles will lay eggs and provide me with more superworms! I figure thats a good time investment as a rough calculation puts these things at close to $70/lb at Petsmart.Grismond: Sorry for the blur, its hard to take a picture of him as he tries to threaten the camera by puffing up: Superworm A, day 1:(no photo of superworm B. suffice to say they all look the same)[Edited on January 19, 2009 at 12:59 PM. OMG! My Teacher is an Alien was my favorite book in 4th grade. I might read it again just for the sake of nostalgia.
