Typo becomes internet meme.

Like "teh".

A lot of them were created around the time when forums were starting to become really popular (2000, 2001-ish).

i've seen it used in late 1800s/early 1900s newspaper comics

i've also seen it extensively used in Uncle Scrooge/Donald Duck stories by Carl Barks in the 1940s
