New season starts Wednesday, March 11 at 10PM.

Also, from here on out, all South Park episodes will be produced in HD and widescreen.

Quote :
"On Wednesday March 11, 2009 at 10 pm EST South Park goes HD. We are really excited because, not only will the season premiere be in HD, but we have been working hard for over a year re-rendering previous seasons in native HD. We are not up-converting the episodes, but actually going into each episode and re-rendering every shot and frame at true HD. Check back soon for more info on the Comedy Central and South Park HD news, and the season 13 premiere."

Meaning ALL episodes of South Park will eventually be HD, I assume. The true question is when will TWC actually add CC HD?

I love HD and all, but I kinda miss the feel of the older seasons, when it had that DIY feel to it. Don't get me wrong I still love the show, but I miss the old format.

maybe I'm missing something here, and I don't mean this to be a slight on South Park because it may very well be my favorite show on TV, but...

what is the value added having HD for a cartoon, other than for Matt and Trey to make fun of the fact that it's a cartoon in HD?

it probably won't be all that big of a difference but it will be a little sharper. HD > no HD

first episode will be about digital tv transition and old people going crazy, SouthPark style

and they will probably have Stan's dad buy a new TV

and just lay on the couch watching all the channels 'cause its HD, overreacting to stuff like when there was no internet or when he HAD to videotape everything

all while the show itself is ironically in HD

then a Cartman/Butters subplot about something unrelated, maybe trying to haggle at circuit city 'cause its closing or trying to return a game he didn't want there???

not a bad episode I just came up with!

Well, it's on TV, so the more pleasant it is to look at the better.

Realistically, what's the value of having it for any comedy? It doesn't make them any funnier.

I see your point, but when you're talking about any comedy I think making it look sharper is at least marginally more important than when you are dealing with a cartoon that is based off of construction paper and has made fun of itself numerous times for having crappy animation (I am aware they don't use construction paper any more)

I dunno...I don't know much about shooting in HD and if it's more expensive, I suppose if it's the same price than I guess why no

just gonna go ahead and bump this so we don't get a duplicate. starts a week from wednesday, no announcement on the episode yet but you'd think it would be something to do with the economy.

cartoons are obviously less affected by jumping to HD by their sheer relative simplicity of graphics compared to live action video, but since everything is going to be in HD eventually, why not go ahead...they have the money

cartoons / animation actually do look better in HD, any form of HD.

sure, but everything looks better in HD...im just saying that live action video has a more impressive improvement from SD to HD than cartoons do

getting your balls twisted about it being in HD has to be sillier than the fact that it is in HD

There was a HD version of an episode released for the xbox marketplace. HD looks really good and works well with South Park. Can't wait!

I'm not getting my balls twisted at all...I really don't give a shit one way or the other

I was simply asking a question about the value added...I'm not going to complain about it.

For all of you Netflix users, Comedy Central, Stone and Parker have reached a deal with Netflix to stream the first 9 seasons of SP on Netflix.

South Park has become too centrist for me, but as long as they can roll out the funny I can look the other way.

that just seems like the easiest joke ever

this seemed like one of those eps where they had an idea that was good but couldnt really support a full episode

^ yeah, that joke has only been replaced by "Why do gays want to get married? So they can be miserable like the rest of us?" as most worn-out joke ever

The Coon
Episode 1302 (Original Air Date: Mar 18, 2009)
"The Coon" rises from the trash and takes his place as a lone vigilante who wipes out crime in the town of South Park.

I think the last episode was great, it was a good idea and it may have had to be stretched too far but pretty well executed overall, mickey and the foam got me laughing
