I challenge anyone who thinks there is a difference in meaning between nigga and nigger to learn about linguistics. You can even take some classes at NC State on linguistics. One example is ANT 254.

The bottom line is, is that in the black American vernacular, many words ending in the sound of -er and even -ar are typically pronounced -a [listen to rap, if you don't believe me], yet have the same exact meaning as the original word.
