that takes so much more time and effort than taking 1 second to throw it away

I think I replied in that thread or at least one just like it. I used to think I was doing something by shredding the contents and stuffing it in the prepaid envelope and sending it back. They I got tired of the hassle of wasting my time doing it. Then I put my name on the no junk mail list and haven't gotten any junk mail since and I feel more victorious in doing so.

I've put my name on the no junk mail list as well but I still receive some. The one's I do still receive, I send back.To be sure, it takes about 4 more seconds to do this than the 1 second it takes to throw away. If you're making say $2.3 million per year, it's probably not economically feasible to take the time to do this; I can completely understand that rationale. Also, if you're too lazy or don't care, I can certainly understand that. Outside of those people, I would encourage the rest to participate.
