no one wanted to get on a shift like this, and it sounded cool to me. i was all over it at first... its not like i have any responsibilities to anyone else. so fuck it, lets get it out of the way before i knock some chick up and its all over

started as just the B Week rotation.... i lived through it, and its a/b/a/b/a/b... the guinea pig survived

BUT I AM SO BORED.

some people can't handle switching up schedules from week to week.
to me, thats cancelled easily by having 3/4 day weekends every weekend
some people hate working more than 10 at a time. if i'm already there, i don't care.
i also thought that it would be a lot cooler to work more independently.

but heres a little secret... between midnight and sunrise, time stops.

also -- i bet 20% of america's workers spend over half their time staring at status bars. i gotta find something to do while the bars all fill up...

i've gotta rig up the dvr box to be controlled with my home PC, and stream it to myself.

if anyone wants to work on that with me, we can brainstorm.

i thiink the man is conspiring to hole me down and make me feel like I need to see the doctor and get a cocktail of speed and prozac just to feel normal.

oh yeah its like 2 am, no ones gonna say anything worth reading. [maybe some drunks are online!]

The B week would work great for me, but I'm not a morning person at all, so the A would kill me. I've got a sleep disorder where my natural circadian rhythm is about five hours behind everyone else, so when left to my own devices, my natural bedtime is around 5am anyway. And yes, three day weekends are hot.

I used to work 11 hour days 4 days a week usually falling on the weekend. I couldn't get anything done those four days as I did manual labor and was worn the fuck out but I got three days off. It was great for the weekend but got old REALLY fast. Like really fast.

I'd do A. Otherwise you'd completely fuck up your sleep schedule. B would not be fun 4 weeks into it.

When I reverse my normal sleep schedule and stay up all night, it confuses the shit of out of me.

I lose track of which day of the week it is, have a hard time remember things, etc

actually, you're right on the B getting old quick. but you gotta remember that there are only 2 B weeks every month.

and some people seem to be mistaken, like i was asking and had a choise. you have to do both. i was asking how people felt

I would never sign up to do A unless I had no other options.

And if I had to alternate my sleep schedule between A and B, then... well, I'd probably get fired on the second A week due to the fact that my body just doesn't work like a motherfucking yo-yo.

Just B, though? Assuming I didn't really have any other obligations, I could probably handle it. My sleep schedule tends to shift naturally towards B-hours anyway, so... yeah, it'd be kinda weird, but I'm sure I could take it.

not to pile on, but people on third shift (which is pretty much B sked) higher rates of obesity, heart disease, and depression.

It's easy to understand why.

my schedule:

Day 1: 3am-3pm
Day 2: 6am-4pm
Day 3: 3am-3pm
Day 4: 6am-4pm

then cycle starts over.

About once every month or two it changes...ideally, everything slides 6 hours later, though one time, it completely inverted, which sucked (although I'd only seen a few hours of sunlight for the previous month, so that was a nice change). They gave me almost 2 full days unscheduled (i.e., come to work, but do it on your own time) to let my body adjust.
