Yes, the thread title sounds downsy and utterly retarded, but nothing else would fit in a thread title that even remotely made sense or properly set up my actual question. Basically this is a "Paging Dr. TWW" thread regarding optometry....

What is the term for those little anomalies that one can get on one's eyes? They're like a tiny little dark-ish ripple that kind of float around in the field of vision, and they're not really noticeable unless one is looking at a uniformly white surface or a solid and light-colored computer or TV screen...

There's this little blackish-grey spot that's basically dead-center on my left eye, and it's getting fucking annoying... I really don't notice (in fact, can't really even see it at all) it unless I'm trying to focus on something being displayed on a mostly-white computer screen... which is unfortunate, since it makes reading forums or pretty much anything with a white background on the internet somewhat annoying. If I move my eye in a direction, the spot just sort of floats off in that direction, but it's still a little bitch.

Holy shit, you produced that link quickly.

Great job, A++++ effort, would eBay again.

^Lies. According to the article: "Most spots and floaters in the eye are harmless and merely annoying. Many will fade over time and become less bothersome."

it's crap that's floating in your vitreous humour. It casts a shadow on your retina, blah blah blah

you usually don't have to worry about it. your body will clean it out eventually

I used to fuck around with these things when I was a kid... I'd be watching TV and I'd sweep my eye across it and watch the people get all rippely (rippley? [sic]?).

This thread marks the first time one has actually impeded my sight.

this first occured to me when I was 18, over an interesting summer that involved some drunken boxing and lasers

I was convinced either the former or the latter had fucked up my eye, until I realized how common this was
