Man, cancer is vicious when it wants to be. Kay Yow was a helluva fighter, someone I am glad is part of the NCSU family.

My sincerest condolences go out to her family and the NCSU women's b-ball team. I knew she'd gone to the hospital but honestly it's a shock that the situation went south so quickly.

Quote :
"Yow received her Bachelor of Science degree in English from East Carolina University in 1964, and her Master's degree in Physical Education from the UNC-Greensboro in 1970. She was selected the "Outstanding Alumnus" by UNC-Greensboro in 1982 for excellence in her profession[citation needed]. On January 11, 2001, she reached the 600-win milestone for her career with a 71-64 win over Temple University.[1] . On February 5, 2007, she reached the 700-win milestone for her career with a 68-51 win over Florida State University. She currently ranks as the fifth winningest active NCAA Division I women's basketball coach. In recognition for her dedication and success, Yow was selected for enshrinement into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on June 5, 2002. On February 16, 2007,the basketball court at Reynolds Coliseum was renamed Kay Yow Court at Reynolds Coliseum in her honor. On July 11, 2007, Yow received the inaugural Jimmy V ESPY Award for Perseverance. She received a standing ovation.

There are few people associated with NCSU that are better representatives of the university, conference, and humans in general.

Rest In Peace.

Kay Yow was an inspiration for people everywhere. She gave everything she could to NCSU and womens athletics in general. I hope State holds some sort of memorial that we can all attend.

She had such a good heart and was always a joy to be around. She never thought of herself as a celebrity.

Man my heart goes out to her loved ones and her team. I will miss you

A wonderful person. I hope that we all remember everything she gave to State and how she constantly fought the cancer and never gave up.

Everything she did was to make others better.
To her, her health came secondary to being a great leader.
My thoughts and condolences go out to her friends and family.

most of the time thats how it is. people i have lost to cancer would be stable for a while, then all of a sudden they'd go downhill really fast and it'd be the end.
