^call me young and naive but consider the following:
Johnny Thomas, Tracy Smith, CJ Williams, Julius Mays, seem to give it all 99% of the time they're on the court. 3/4 are freshman and still make freshman mistakes. Tracy Smith is developing while under Lowe.
Fells and Degand usually give it all, they're just both coming off injuries and every now have wtf moments.
Brandon Costner and Ben McCauley will often show very little effort when they're on the court (unless one of them is really feeling it, and the second half against BC is an exception to the rule) and they cry when they aren't getting most of the touches or minutes.
Horner often looks clueless out there, and he'll throw up incredibly stupid shots and fumble balls. He's usually not man enough to play inside and he doesn't have the handles or the consistent shot to play outside.
Ferg is a wild card, and isn't the best ball handler.
Javi isn't very talented and does some complete WTF shit all the time.
Simon Harris gives it all, he just doesn't have ACC game.

When you have no effort and no leadership from your more experienced guys, you're not going to be a very good team no matter who is coaching. As the first set of guys mature, and the second set of guys exit the program, we'll be a good team.
