Lopsided scores are the norm in girls basketball, it's even more lopsided in private girls's school basketball. Hell, look at the UCONN vs. Rutgers game a week or so ago that UCONN won by over 50 and some Rutgers chick decided to bitch at the UCONN coach.

At some point you put in the scrubs, but not because you don't want to hurt feelings, but rather because there's no sense in risking injury to your good players when the game is in hand. What was this coach supposed to do, tell his second stringers not to play defense, to throw the ball to the other team at every opportunity, and to stop shooting. How is that fair to his team? Wouldn't you rather lose 100-0 rather than have the other team form a layup line for you? Playing the game the wrong way is the worst thing you can do, beating the shit out of an inferior opponent is not.

The school should apologize for scheduling the game, the coach should not apologize for having his team and all his players playing hard.

You get up by thirty, you play four corners and take shots with two seconds left on the shot clock. You don't have to throw the ball away or not play defense to take it easy on the other team.

How does that help the second string players? It's not the coaches job to make sure his worst players never get better, it's to have them play the game. It's literally more humiliating to have someone pretend like they're playing hard just because you suck.

If I was coaching a team of retarded girls in basketball, and the other team got up 70-0 on me and was still pressing and shooting 5 seconds into the shot clock, I would make sure they ended up winning 200-0 because of all the foul shots they would be shooting.

My team would be clobbering the shit out of the other team, and the other team wouldn't be able to do anything back if they wanted to keep the shutout.

yeah, it is definitely worthy to mention that the school that got pounded has a total of 20 girls at that school, and its mostly a school for girls with physical or learning disabilities.

and I saw where the coach didn't apologize, and thought to myself "Well, he's toast."

How would basically running a layup drill against 4 girls with mental and physical handicaps help them get better? They probably get more out of a normal practice.

I bet it pisses you off to see a quarterback take a knee also. As long as there's time on the clock, they should be throwing for the endzone, right?

When I played soccer in high school my coach wouldn't let us beat a team by more than 5. So if it ever got up to 5-0 we could go all the way down to the other goal but if we took a shot she would take that play out. She never would take out defense though, we wanted to maintain the shut out.

I played sweeper, so games like that me and our goal keeper would just catch up on gossip. There was nothing else to do. The only time I got to even touch the ball was for a goal kick or a foul shot or two.

Then make them pass the ball four times before taking a shot, or no fast breaks, or whatever. Point being, take the time to practice game skills during the game that are not actually putting the ball in the basket.

Sometimes in high school sports you get random super-mismatches like this in your conference games sometimes, and at that level scoring isn't always the point. Even the Jewish school found a way to keep it down to 55-6.
