I know the economy is 'bad' right now, but does money vanish? I don't see how we could have a great economy one second and then the next second its in shambles. Yeah, we Americans spend money on useless shit but still the money should be in the pot. Something tell me something is fishy about this whole 'restructuring' of the American economy.

The Gov should take all the stock money and use it as they please (not take it as their own tho) and if a company needs a bailout they can help them with their own money instead of Uncle Joe having the money in his bank account and being a bitch. Fuck greedy shareholders.

Watch out! Here comes a huge influx of naysayers that lack original thoughts of their own, but are positive that you are wrong.Money is simply "paper" that can "pay" for goods, services, and settle debts. Think of it like a poker game. When no one is putting money into the pot at a casino, the free drinks, free food, the adoring fans, and everything/everyone else involved won't be circling your poker table anymore. The strength of the economy relies upon the flow of money, and when people cannot pay off their debts, receive an income, get loans, or buy goods, the poker game comes to an abrupt halt. So, the money isn't gone, it's just not flowing like it used too. That's my extremely simple explanation for an impossibly complex concept, lol.
1/29/2009 9:23:53 AM
when you buy something made in china the chinese get a chunk (or a chink however you like it)
1/29/2009 9:25:25 AM
i heard on npr that a lot of the printed money is being hoarded by people in other countries with weaker economies.they had a whole segment on where all the printed money has gone, because a lot of it can't be accounted for.
1/29/2009 9:25:48 AM
^^^ Well I guess that kinda my point, is that if the money is here, why should we rely on the Gov to fix this shit, when we got the money in our pockets?^ Also yeah with terrorist being caught with USD, the Gov is trying to water down the USD on purpose to keep monetary power out of their hands.[Edited on January 29, 2009 at 9:27 AM. a lot of people don't realize that more money is shipped to overseas banks from every printing than stays here in the US and is put in circulation.significantly more.
1/29/2009 9:26:58 AM
BUT WHO WAS PHONE?
1/29/2009 9:28:29 AM
Yeah it could, but doesn't the USD have to come back to America in some way in order for it to be redeemed ultimately?
1/29/2009 9:28:35 AM
what the fuck does redeemed ultimately even mean? places all over the world accept american money.
1/29/2009 9:29:56 AM
Yeah I know but if its not your country's currency how can it be backed fully?
1/29/2009 9:31:13 AM
you don't ever "redeem" money, it just changes handsthe slip of paper we call a dollar is really just a note from the federal reserve saying that there is enough gold/whatever in the national bank to guarantee the value of that dollar the government is "good for it"it's also a fiat currency, so its value isn't determined by ^that, but by the fact that the government says you have to use it as currency and it has to be accepted. you can't go to the treasury and ask to have your dollars turned into silver]
