I'm watching on tv, and it is really pissing me off.Protestant weddings and funerals always piss me off.No offense to those of you who follow it, but they put so much emphasis on Jesus and very little on the person we're supposed to be remembering and honoring. Having a 100-person choir singing to Christ followed by applause is just unnecessary and takes away from the purpose.Other than the actual eulogy, there's so few things said about Kay's life.

1/30/2009 3:32:34 PM
I'm mad at the people who spoke towards the beginning. I like the guy talking now, its really about her now. But before it was Jesus this and Christ that and I felt like i was watching Jesus' funeral, not Kay's.

I want an all black female choir singing soulful hymms; of all funerals ive ever seen, those seem to be the most "filling" in sincerity.on a side note, the most touching thing ive seen at a funeral was some dude ripping out a lock of his hair and laying it on the casket (youtube, funeral of some soldier that jumped on a grenade to protect his comrad(s).)[Edited on January 30, 2009 at 3:41 PM. Protestants: * Adventists * Anglicanism * Anabaptist * Baptist * Calvinist * Charismatic * Congregational * Diocese of Sydney * Lutheran * Methodist / Wesleyan * Nazarene * Pentecostal * Plymouth Brethren * Presbyterian * Religious Society of Friends (Quaker) * Reformed * Restoration movement * WaldensiansWhen my Grandfather emigrated from Poland he was Catholic and remained that way through the war. He met my grandmother on a train. Some time later when they went to get married the Catholic pastor on the base would let them get married because she wasn't Catholic. So they went across the hall to the Presbyterian minister and said he would marry them. They remained Presbyterians ever since.JOKE: What's the difference between Methodists and Baptists? Methodists will say "Hi" to each other in the liquor store. My dad was Methodist and we've been going to a Methodist church for as long as I can remember but I've been to a couple Presbyterian services before. So far the only difference I've noticed is during the "Lord's Prayer" Methodists say trespasses and trespassers and Presbyterians say debts and debtors. I know that anyone, ANYONE, can take communion at a Methodist church no matter who you are or what your religion is (if any).

i would like a gospel choir at my wedding and perhaps my funeral.i don't know any good funeral games. maybe we will play that murder mystery game, that could be fun and slightly relevant. other than that, maybe just some asshole and circle of death (as an icebreaker).
1/30/2009 3:56:42 PM
I've always assumed I'll die violently, so that I won't be able to have an open casketi would like a wax sculpture of me made and presented in my place so people would remember me for what I looked like before the the accident
1/30/2009 3:59:03 PM
you're playing mafia at my funeral.
1/30/2009 4:01:00 PM
I have this whole scheme planned out for my friends to steal me out of my casket the night before, and then during the eulogy my lifeless body is going to drop from the ceiling on a rope and land right in front of my mother. It will be hilarious.
1/30/2009 4:01:45 PM
i don't plan on having my mom at my funeral. i mean,Now you should never have to watchYour only children lowered in the groundI mean you should never have to bury your own babies
1/30/2009 4:22:27 PM
I agree, the plan is only if I go before my mother does. If not, there's always a wife, a daughter, a sister...some female close to me to scare the shit out of for everyone else's entertainment.

i'm a big believer that a funeral should be a celebration of the person rather than a mourning, as cheesy as that is.
1/30/2009 5:34:58 PM
^ yeah same here. I like wearing color to funerals, not all black.hahahaha im on the news, interviewed before the service outside the church[Edited on January 30, 2009 at 5:43 PM. Reason : ]

I've been to probably 20 funerals, and a lot of them have been true "celebrations of life" though that does sound trite. Honestly, I've been to some weddings that had a sadder feel than a lot of funerals I have been to.
