so there was a couple guys in the student section holding up a sign that said "Roy Williams Watches 2 Girls 1 Cup" someone with the event staff confiscated the damn sign from him. When I tired to ask the dude why he did it and that he was stifling free speech he told me I would be ejected from the game if I didn't drop it right then and there. What a cock gobbler

a sign isn't a form of speech

My understanding is that your rights are only protected on/within publicly-owned property. By extension, this obviously does not include private property. You do not, for example, have the freedom of speech to put signs with political statements all over someone else's yard if they do not give you their explicit permission. You also cannot yell "FIRE!" in a privately-owned theater, although the reckless endangerment of lives alone is probably enough to ban such speech in that setting.[Edited on January 31, 2009 at 6:51 PM. the sign was funny. and RBC staff are dickheads. well, many of them are. especially the security people.I hate it when cops and security people are dickheads. I try to support these people and thank them when I can, but it's the assholes that ruin it.

^^At least that one guy who guarded the State bench back in 2003 and 2004 isn't there anymore. The dance team baseline used to be the last section to fill up. A lot of non-students would go sit in the front 3 rows until the guard would come and kick them out. Then the seats would remain empty the entire game.[Edited on January 31, 2009 at 11:03 PM. RBC owns that building. They can kick you out for whatever the fuck they want.
1/31/2009 11:05:59 PM
is that true? I could have sworn the state paid for a good chunk of it. RBC just doesnt have naming rights?
1/31/2009 11:11:47 PM
^ I think that is correct, except for the state ownership part. gotta be hurricanes or wolfpack club or both I would think
1/31/2009 11:13:24 PM
The Centennial Authority owns it, which was established by the state legislature. Gale Force sports is the private entity that provided some funding.http://www.centauth.com/arenafinancing.htmlIn conclusion, this is probably not as open and shut as it was made out to be above, but who cares.[Edited on January 31, 2009 at 11:15 PM. yeah, RBC does not own the building.it's some joint thing with NCSU, the canes, and some holding company. Gale Force, maybe?nm, ^ got it.[Edited on January 31, 2009 at 11:15 PM. Reason : asdf]
