2/2/2009 1:19:31 PM
The ones that don't come from KFC?And you aren't going to the one on Western, right?[Edited on February 2, 2009 at 1:20 PM. Reason : ]
2/2/2009 1:19:43 PM
yeah, if its just a location thing, then get something else from KFC. like that slop bucket with the corn and potatoes and gravy and cheese and chiknif its a wings thing, there has a to be a dive bar within a quarter mile with much better wings... and probably cheap this time of day.
2/2/2009 1:21:11 PM
man KFC is the nastiest shit on the planet how can anybody eat that
2/2/2009 1:22:01 PM
not the one on Western, didn't that place burn down or something?so you guys are saying don't even fuck with KFC?[Edited on February 2, 2009 at 1:23 PM. Reason : .]
2/2/2009 1:22:45 PM
We're saying it's Monday and you can probably get better wings to go from a sports bar for cheaper.[Edited on February 2, 2009 at 1:26 PM. Reason : ]

They aren't horrible at kfc- but I'd recommend Bada instead. I used to work at a wing place, and since then Bada is the only place I will recommend getting wings in the area. Saucers aren't bad either but they are really hit or miss whether or not you get a decent size wing
2/2/2009 1:28:04 PM
mmmm....bada wings
2/2/2009 1:31:33 PM
yeah kfc isnt bad or anything. i live near a new one and i eat there sometimes. but wings, i always get from a bar. maybe its nostalgia, i dunno. but they're always better and usually cheaper. sometimes like 10 for 2.5 bucks.
2/2/2009 1:33:31 PM
ah damnit. now I'm craving wings. thanks a lot guys(girl)
2/2/2009 1:33:34 PM
^^ shit- I'm happy to get 10 for 5
2/2/2009 1:34:57 PM
fuck you all, I'm going to KFC.
2/2/2009 1:40:50 PM
oh its not always 2.50 for 10 at my spot, thats just sometimes. i dont even go enough to know what days or times, just that theres a little bar down the street from me with a special some days, 25c wings but you have to get at least an order of 10i dont know if there are other rules, i know you dont have to buy beer or anything. maybe the catch is that you cant get em to go?but i love me some wings, its just that i try to be healthy now so i replace wings with... well, nothing. i still dont like rabbit food, i just stay away from greasy stuff most of the time nowbut hell yeah you can get good wings at your local dive for probably better price than kfcand i will state again that kfc has good quality wings, just the sauce isnt all that. if youre gonna go out for wings, they should be mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm goodwhich reminds me, the only place for wings that sucks is hooters, doesnt matter what flavor, what you drink with them, how big the waitresses boobs are, or anything. you always leave feeling sick^ thats the spirit. i can appreciate the attitude, but you shouldnt reject good wing advice ]

Sammys on Avent Ferry has okay Wings, though I'm not sure about to-go. It's like 20 for 7 bucks or something. Lots of yummy sauce.[Edited on February 2, 2009 at 1:43 PM. Reason : damn, where are these 10 for 2.50?]
2/2/2009 1:42:17 PM
sammys did have decent wings. then again i was always fucked up at sammys. so who knows the truth.!!!11 but then he started charging 11 cents per inch of celery and i was like fuck this jew mothafucka[Edited on February 2, 2009 at 1:45 PM. Reason : ^its this shiny place on battleground ave in greensboro. i bet djeternal knows the name]like anyone gives a fuck about greensboro. just my 2 cents about finding good wings. that place is within a mile or so of 2 KFCs]
2/2/2009 1:44:32 PM
lol
2/2/2009 1:46:08 PM
Sammy's wings are $.39 each every day. You can get up to 20 to go at that price.I cant resist making my own these days though.
2/2/2009 1:47:59 PM
theres also a bar with one of those 'generic' vinyl(?) budweiser signs hanging out by the road that says "BAR AROUND BACK" with an arrow. i wanna go there sometime and see what thats all about. looks really awesome

i use my deep fryer at 375 for like 5 mins. and most regular wings sauces are just hot sauce and butter.
2/2/2009 1:52:02 PM
1. Buy deep fryer from Big Lots for $32.2. Heat oil to about 365. (I use canola oil)3. Cook thawed wings in oil for 15 minutes.4. Remove and dry with paper towels5. Add wing sauce (I use a mix of melted Country Crock Churn Style pseudobutter, Frank's Hot Sauce, and Texas Pete Hotter Hot Sauce)[Edited on February 2, 2009 at 1:55 PM. Reason : O damn, not sure how to do it baking them.]
2/2/2009 1:53:47 PM
ah man i dont have a fry daddy. not after i started having panic attacks about my heart blowing up
2/2/2009 1:54:22 PM
Holy crap. you must like your chicken dry as shit.
2/2/2009 1:55:22 PM
ok it sounds like the deep fry might be mandatory... so 2 questionsis the bake/broil possible for DECENT wings.... and if not, is there a not so bad oil to cook in (thats not gross)^me? dry chicken? i use some kind of corn flakes brand shake and bake crap usually and it usually turns out really good. then again im no expert food critic. i dont even like onions and stuff]
2/2/2009 1:55:52 PM
They don't get dry surprisingly.I'll be happy to put mine up against yours anytime.[Edited on February 2, 2009 at 1:56 PM. Reason : ^ canola oil is the best reasonably priced one I've found]
2/2/2009 1:56:11 PM
Sweet TWW Wing cook off.
2/2/2009 1:56:36 PM
I'm in.This might require it's own thread.
2/2/2009 1:58:03 PM
when it comes to my health, MONEY IS NO OPTIONha just kidding i'll just have no wings if it would cost 15 bucks a quart for the fancy oilanyone wanna weigh in on straight up broiler pan wing cooking? or do i have to get a fry daddy if i want anything good]
2/2/2009 1:58:30 PM
2/2/2009 2:00:10 PM
You can get the big jugs of vegetable oil from walmart for 6-7 bucks. It will work fine.If we do a cook off, we need sub categories.Buffalo*Mild*HotAnd then like a Special Sauce one.[Edited on February 2, 2009 at 2:00 PM. Reason : ]
2/2/2009 2:00:34 PM
i appreciate the info on the oils, but are you guys missing my question... or is that just your way of saying its no good the other way(broiler pan, oven)
2/2/2009 2:04:32 PM
I think if you have a barbecue or grill that might be the next best option.Wings in the oven just aren't going to be the kind of wings you get from a bar or restaurant. They'll be more like the kind of wings you get from a pizza delivery chain.[Edited on February 2, 2009 at 2:31 PM. Reason : ]
2/2/2009 2:05:07 PM
Baked are fine, but its more like roasted chicken than chicken wings.
2/2/2009 2:05:34 PM
are they any good on the big green egg?

NGREDIENTS * 3/4 cup flour * 1/2 teaspoons cayenne pepper * 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder * 1/2 teaspoon salt * 20 chicken wings * 1/2 cup melted butter * 1/2 cup hot pepper sauce, such as Frank's RedHot DIRECTIONS 1. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, and lightly grease with cooking spray. Place the flour, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and salt into a resealable plastic bag, and shake to mix. Add the chicken wings, seal, and toss until well coated with the flour mixture. Place the wings onto the prepared baking sheet, and place into the refrigerator. Refrigerate at least 1 hour. 2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees . 3. Whisk together the melted butter and hot sauce in a small bowl. Dip the wings into the butter mixture, and place back on the baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven until the chicken is no longer pink in the center, and crispy on the outside, about 45 minutes. Turn the wings over halfway during cooking so they cook evenly.[Edited on February 2, 2009 at 2:15 PM. Reason : ]

thanks for that, blas, i trust youve used a similar recipe before. i want some KEEP IT REAL chicken, not no google chicken, ya heard?ps since this is specialized chicken cooking should i get the "name brand" chicken wings, or just the normal ole harris teeter meat market packages?assuming i want fresh and not frozen chicken, etcps if you guys wanna have a wings cook off i will host (judge)ha ha
2/2/2009 2:32:21 PM
Its pretty standard. Only thing is if you prefer naked or breaded, and if you have a hot sauce preference.
2/2/2009 2:38:42 PM
If you are breading them, I suggest:
2/2/2009 2:47:29 PM
nah i think breading goes against what i like about chicken wingsthey nasty.plus, for breading, that corn flake crumb mix is really really good. im probably just getting ripped off like 2.50 when i could just use normal corn flakes. but i like rice krispies ok
2/2/2009 2:57:41 PM
^^+1
