i was gonna make a thread and ask what § was called IN WORDS, but i figured it out while looking for how to make the symbol.

so instead of a thread asking a stupid question, i'll use this thread to answer what i was gonnna ask. call it the fact of the day.

i think everyone should do this, we'll all be geniuses in no time. speaking of which, they seem to rank the ancient people higher on the IQ hall of fame than modern people like einstein and darwin. they just makin shit up, yo. fuck plato, son.

Yes, sadly enough, I did not learn this until law school, and now I use it every day.

Have that sign shortcutted on my Word program. Had to use it all the time typing up laws in law school. Can easily be hand-written by just writing one "S" and another "S" on the bottom half of the first "S".

html:

§

which is "&+sect;" (minus the " and +)

or §

"&+#167;" (minus the " and +)

or hold down alt and type 0167 on the number pad

§§§§§§§§§§§

ive always seen it used in law, with statutes. now that i know the name, it was a dumb question.... it just labels the different sections of the chapters of the statutes

like chapter 20 is traffic laws in nc

and i think § 20.138.1 is the main dwi statute'

then like § 20.138.1(a)(1) is the normal thing

i dunno where he section sign comes in

I mean...when it came to law school...you would just be like...

"In the Landlord Tenant Law of South Carolina, Section 27, Rule 41...blah blah blah blah."

So it's just a way to list things. Like "Section 4, Chapter 3 of your Marketing Book" type shit.
