looking for recommendations on something lightweight, basic, fast, free, and for xp. crop, rotate, resize... if the picture viewer that comes with xp had crop and resize, it would be pretty much perfect for what i need it for*.
some kind of sysinternals/powertools type tool would be sweet.. does winXP sp3 update include that cool crop tool that showed up in vista?
otherwise, suggestions (w/ links) would be much appreciated.
thanks.
*nothing really technically relevant beyond this line, just putting it out there for ideas..feedback.. hear myself talk... i dunno ------------------
software... a little while back, since i had the chance to do so for practically nothing, i got myself some real/legit 'photoshop' software (fireworks). so i'm good on that. its just that this is for a different machine and i only need like need like 4 functions. so im looking freeware
as for the system... i do my going green with computers and parts... so the idea is adding a new use to a semi-older (~1ghz/512kb) laptop that i use now (barely) for music and msOffice... a digital camera workstation...
just for space to dump memory cards onto and maybe do a little pre-pre-editing before i transfer the pics over. i think that in my free time i could do my broadbrush edit stuff and save a bunch of time when it comes down to actually playing with the pictures with real software 2/3/2009 2:14:56 PM |

^^^i was looking at gimp just cause ive seen it around, i'll put that on the short list. and IrfanView looks like its a lot down the alley i'm looking for
^^ i used picasa some, and i like it. but #1, its just way too much for the simple stuff i need at that poit... and #2, i always had problems with changes not saving and stuff ending up online that i didnt want online, etc. stpidass user error im sure, but still... see #1 haha] 2/3/2009 2:23:33 PM |

i think that paint.net will be the best thing for now, looks good on load time and its simple enough.
ill try the others if this one fails me
