I've got a possible possible job working as a telemarketer. I have never considered working in this before but I am desperate for a job. It says the pay is 40% Salary 60% Commission. Anyone ever worked with this before? How much is the normal pay then. The job has really good benefits, even for a part time job. Thanks guys.

You gotta do what you gotta do, but don't expect to sell a whole lot. Benefits could be good though.

Telemarketing is horrible. Be prepared to have a lot of people hang up on you or start screaming at you for things that have nothing to do with why you're calling.

each telemarketing job is different

making outbound calls is the worst of these types of jobs

what are your hours? there might be a different opportunity on the commissions side depending on what

shift you have. it is typically "easy" work physically but can beat you down if you cant take people

telling you NO a lot.

haha, I got con-ed into taking a job in "sales" from a friend's company. I would find out my first day that it was basically cold calling/telemarketing. I left the second day due to a stomach ache, which was more of me just being so anxious and uneasy w/ what I was forcing myself to do. I quit the next day, and eventually forgot him as a friend.

yes. summer after freshman year. worked for a company that did telemarketing for AT&T.

i loved it because i hooked people up with discounts big time -- i did the maximum i was allowed to do to acquire new customers.

my favorite scripted response was when people asked in a contempt/rude tone: "what do you want?", and i would reply, "its not what i want, its what you want, and you want to save money."

My brother worked doing this in a big warehouse-type room with hundreds of other telemarketers.

One night he just stood up, looked around, took off his headset, and walked out. Apparently it's not the funnest/most rewarding job.

If you're gonna do it, one of the tricks is to adopt whatever accent the person who answers has. Don't do it to the point where it sounds fake, but just enough so you sound sort of like them.

i suggest you come to work open minded and prepare to accept bitching out at... if you can deal with it, then youre golden.

i think a good amount of people are nice to telemarketers (and just say like no thank you, not at this time). so itll be like half assholes, half nice people.

if you're part of the 3% of people who excel at a job like that, more power to you. if not, be prepared to want to shoot yourself in the head.

My mom did it and only lasted a week. She hated bothering people at home.

A good portion of my jobs have been telemarketing, but that is to businesses so it's different. I hate it, but it's an important aspect of sales.

My mother did it once. Said it was the worst job of her life, and she used to be a CNA. And she is not insecure or easily put off or insulted.

Knowing this, I have stayed far, far away.

There's a reason a PT job has insane benefits: it sucks ass. If you take it, are good at it, and are at best, not unhappy, you're a rarity.

it blows. i had a job with the phone company where we would call existing customers and start them off by telling them it was a "service" call and ask them how was their service. Once you get that small talk out of the way we would then have to try to sell them everyfuckingthing from highspeed internet, to a cellphone, to satellite tv . . . it was the worst.

I recommend going through the training (if you get paid for it), that way you can at least get a paycheck for listening to some tool bag tell you how to swindle people for a couple of weeks.
