anyone know of a place around here to donate an old washing machine? would rather donate it to a charity so they can get some dollar bucks out of it (and so I can put it on my taxes).

If you're in Raleighwood you might try the Raleigh Rescue Mission. No idea if they take these items, but I've dealt with them before - top notch!
