oh oh...sorry that had to play out in your thread, hova....ummm....i dunno where the good bowling specials are..........

probably the most helpful tip i got for bowling was to point the foot that i braced on, at my release, as straight as possible....least it works for me

Glad you made this thread...i too will be looking to bowl soon...and a bowling league...that sounds like just the thing i could join to mix things up

if you're right handed, you throw between the second and third arrow. hold your hand like you're picking up the telephone.
your middle and ring finger should be the last to leave the ball.

once you have your throw down, the ball will hook into the pins from right to left....hitting the pins at an angle ...making them explode

yeah, but everything I said is pointless if you don't have your own ball drilled to fit your hand. it also has to be drilled the right way...otherwise, you'll break your thumb.

nah, you don't need to twist your wrist. all the hooking action comes off of your fingers while you're throwing.

you can get a good ball for about $80 - 160 depending on where you shop (including drilling, and the fingertip inserts)

Our league name is just that of our sponsors. Protel. A local telecommunications company in the area....

yeah, they will measure your hand, and your fingers, and drill accordingly

the goal is to have your thumb all the way in the ball, your palm laying on the ball, and your fingertips, gripping into the two other holes

and throwing the ball hard isn't necessarily the best. A heavy ball hits the pins harder, making them hit other pins. Also, throwing too hard doesn't give the ball time to grip the lane, get traction, and start to hook.

a strike in the 9th frame gets two cards
if you get hooked (everyone gets a strike in a frame except you), they get a card

at the end of the game, we play poker with our cards. loser buys a pitcher of beer.
