I am trying desperately to not get sick. I don't have insurance right now, and the last time I got sick was when I didn't have insurance. I got a nasty sinus infection and just had to tough it out for 2 weeks. It was fucking aweful.

you couldn't do like cobra stuff through your work (old work)?

not having insurance is the worst. that is when everything always happens.

I hear you. Fortunately, in 4 years, this is the first time Z and I have been sick at the same time, so usually, we manage pretty well.

Me too. I took part in a flu vaccine study this year (growing vaccines in monkey cells, instead of eggs, to circumvent the issues of supply and lead time). I have to report being sick Did it last year, too.

For future reference, if you get sick, take decongestants like clockwork. They'll keep you dried out so this doesn't happen again. And if you do get a sinus infection, some urgent care places are only (LOL) like $70.
And should you be truly miserable: theraflu warming syrups. They're awesome. I have said this many times on here before, but they really do work, and this bears repeating: I barely remember having mono, due to the nighttime syrup

I've been uninsured for a longass time. It really changes your behavior

Placebo effect.

^^I'd say "That too", but there comes a point where you go "masturbation? What's that?"

I've not been deathly sick in years but growing up I got strep every winter, bad cases too. So I think I'm being made up for those shitty winters, or I just learned a valuable lesson in hygiene.

The best one can go at any given momkent in time is more decongestants. Ithcy ear comes from goop being in places it shouldn't be

I've already decided that when (not if ) I get congested, I'm figuring out a way to make a homemade neti pot, or some approximation of one, even if it's with a turkey baster.

nasal sprays make my nose bleed...

saline cleanses are totally different. they're slightly uncomfortable but the feeling of snot getting washed out and a clear nose... oh man its awesome when you've been stuffed up!

ambrosia if you do a homemade one, make sure you use slightly warm water.

i bought a kit for $12 at walgreens that came with 50 salt packets. there are prob better deals out there but when your head feels like its going to explode, the cost of relief is not an issue

lol that's what it took for me to get better, i had a cold, then a sinus infection then some sort of flu thing, so bad it even put me out of work one day early due to total body pain. I'm one full week from the onset of the "oh shit" feelings and I feel near 100% again health wise. Only the second time I've taken anti-biotics for feeling shitty.

knock on wood i am not sick. i get sick (like sick sick like what ^ and ambrosia seem to be going through) once a year or once every other year. i haven't had it this year. i had a TERRIBLE cold in december, but it wasn't the debilitating sickness (though it almost was, i had the ear clog thing and went to the urgent care and tried to make them drain it because i had to study for exams and they wouldn't ugh).

last year and the year before i got deathly sick during january. and just got on my parent's couch and didn't move for a week. high fever, chills, hallucinations, cough etc. last year i had and upper respiratory infection AND strep. the year before was an upper respiratory infection AND the flu. it sucked. hard. it normally happens in jan, but it didn't this year and i'm hoping to avoid it.

I hate this shit that I have now, coughing all the time, and not because of some lung thing, but because it feels like there is something in my throat (yeah, its a cock, I know, har har) that I cant get rid of... and I have to keep coughing, and the more I cough the more my head hurts, and my face gets hot, it sucks
