just got back from a weekend in NCsure it seems kind of lame living in cary/raleigh/apex/etc, but you have to move away from the place to appreciate it's beautyand it's beautiful. never move away, kids.

?
2/8/2009 10:50:18 PM
mehdepends on where you move to....
2/8/2009 10:50:45 PM
i would concur with this statement
2/8/2009 10:51:05 PM
What were you struck by when you returned?[Edited on February 8, 2009 at 10:51 PM. Reason : The weather was unusually nice. It was cold as hell(an odd statement) this week.]
2/8/2009 10:51:10 PM
like bumfuck, va like me
2/8/2009 10:51:12 PM
what's beautiful about it?
2/8/2009 10:51:29 PM
it's definitely more awesome than were I live now
2/8/2009 10:52:14 PM
san diego is more beautiful imoand given the chance, i'd live in san diego before moving back to ncdont get me wrong, nc is great but its not the best
2/8/2009 10:52:15 PM
another prime example of how humans always value most what they can't have (or don't presently have).
2/8/2009 10:52:29 PM
smc,it was cold as hell in chicago this week and nice as hell this weekend in chicago. so it's all relative I guess.though I didn't mind 68 in NC today
2/8/2009 10:52:38 PM
Raleigh is not beautifulCabo is beautifulAspen is beautifulCalifornia is beautifulRaleigh is just a little less shitty then where ever you move toand thus your opinion of it is jaded
2/8/2009 10:53:32 PM
raleigh is pretty shitty.charlotte is more beautiful, and most of it still looks like shit]
2/8/2009 10:54:29 PM
spent the whole weekend in chapel hill, so you can have your opinion on raleigh to yourselfI was talking about NC
2/8/2009 10:54:44 PM
2/8/2009 10:59:23 PM
Wherever you go, there you are.
2/8/2009 10:59:31 PM
nc might be beautiful. but cary/raleigh/apex/garner/durham are far from it. too bad all the jobs are here. always seems to work out that way.
2/8/2009 11:01:11 PM
[new]
2/8/2009 11:01:53 PM
there's a lot in me right nowif the economy didnt blowthat'd be packing up and heading to oregon.srsly.
2/8/2009 11:02:03 PM

2/8/2009 11:02:18 PM
raleigh, is indeed beautiful.
2/8/2009 11:03:17 PM
remind me again what the unique qualities of the triangle are?
2/8/2009 11:04:38 PM
(there are none) I cant wait to hear attempts at fielding your question.
2/8/2009 11:05:34 PM
woodfoot, where do you live?
2/8/2009 11:06:03 PM
yeah, it should be good[Edited on February 8, 2009 at 11:07 PM. Reason : ^suburb of boston - where did you move to?]
2/8/2009 11:06:32 PM
1) the people of NC are, on the whole, nicer. I don't know how people in MA are but from my limited experience dating a MIT chick the boston types weren't pretty bad, but they are still asshole city folks2) I live in the chi, it's not so bad, either. but I think these last two winters have been so bad that I wonder what the fuck was so wrong with NC to begin with!I don't know man, don't feel bad that you've moved away from NC. I don't; I love Chicago. Nostalgia plays a factor but that ain't why I miss NC. Eh, enjoy your weather
2/8/2009 11:11:37 PM
i can buy an extra sweaterand
2/8/2009 11:13:25 PM
People have funny ideas about the East Coast here in New Mexico. Urban wastelands and unpleasant people spring immediately to mind.
2/8/2009 11:13:34 PM
doesn't get much better than here in monterey, but yes i miss raleigh a lot and will return
2/8/2009 11:14:57 PM
woodfootthere is no need to pick me apart; in fact you could find some way to agree with me about some thingsbut, whatever
2/8/2009 11:15:07 PM
2/8/2009 11:16:52 PM
it was like 50 in brooklyn yesterdayyou can talk about north carolina all you wanttheres barely anything in it that can match park slope, let alone the whole burrough the only thing north carolina is doing best is the beaches and the mountainsand that surely ain't what we're talking about
2/8/2009 11:19:28 PM
fine crede, i'll agree with you on somethingchapel hill is 10 times the city raleigh is
2/8/2009 11:20:47 PM
Sure, there are places with better scenery, better nightlife, or whatever. But I'm perfectly fine right here in Raleigh. I've been to many places, but what's wrong with enjoying the simplicity of good ol Raleigh?
2/8/2009 11:22:30 PM
i'm sorry, simplicity?you want simplicity move to ayden or somethingif i'm going to pay city cost of living i'm going to want some city benefits
2/8/2009 11:24:03 PM
2/8/2009 11:52:04 PM
i know rightoregon has intrigued me for a while
2/8/2009 11:52:45 PM
If I go to Raleigh or Cary, I share the sentiments of the original poster when I get home to the wilds of Bladen County.
2/9/2009 12:57:24 AM
loli too remember the halcyon days of my youth, when a trip to raleigh was exciting
2/9/2009 1:01:10 AM
i don't know, B. i moved to NC when I was 17 and stayed there through my defining early 20s. NC sort of contributed to me being the Don I am today.
2/9/2009 1:16:25 AM
a trip to Raleigh is more aggravating than exciting now. I can drive from here to Wilmington (35 miles) quicker than you can cross Raleigh.
2/9/2009 1:23:08 AM
i know rightif i'm gonna sit in traffic, it better be to get somewhereor heyhow about the option of not having to drive?
2/9/2009 1:58:50 AM
haha, Raleigh is a great place if you are 40 with 3 kids... aside from that, its not a shit hole by any means, but it is so extremely boring
2/9/2009 2:00:33 AM
everything about it is a cookie cutter cityand its barely above par for state capitals
2/9/2009 3:32:54 AM
i concur with this thread
2/9/2009 4:17:50 AM
i just think that if you are unable to have fun in raleigh, maybe you wouldn't have fun anywhere. i mean...sure it isn't the greatest city, but i am capable of having fun here, my friends are still for the most part here. so if you have friends and you aren't boring, i think you could make it work. maybe. probably. and if not, then move. be ballsy! i want to move, too. but i'm just saying...i don't sit and gripe about how boring it is. i see a lot of young people. i feel like the cary/n. ral area is more full of families. and raleigh is way better than gboro (in my opinion, i know some people on here think otherwise).
