Busted while wardriving.
It's a new millennium on COPS, but at least the criminals still wear wifebeaters.
It's the third segment. If you've never noticed, the formula for all episodes of COPS is 1.) Action (usually a chase) 2.) Domestic Dispute 3.) Unusual or morally ambiguous arrest.

No. Watch the video (or read the post).
That guy was just a dumbass. Those cops didn't have a reason to search his truck but they asked him anyway and he willingly let them search it. If he would have played it cool and asked politely declined their request he would have been let go with a warning. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the guy got busted, but he practically asked to be arrested.2/9/2009 2:13:06 AM |

I think his problem was that he was wearing a wife-beater. Salesmen drive S10 trucks like that all the time, and I see them all the time pulled over doing paperwork. He just didn't have a good cover story.
So, did he get the ssn, info, etc from somewhere else and was just using other people's wifi to make safe online purchases/withdrawals? Or do you think he was actually ripping info from the wifi router. What would be involved in that, just a hacked router firmware? 2/9/2009 10:56:45 AM |

my bet is that he was just making the purchases while on someone else's network - he didn't appear smart enough in my opinion for anything else - why would he write that stuff down as opposed to keeping it all on his laptop 2/9/2009 10:59:58 AM |

True. I'm guessing he was just a smurf or bought a few cc#'s on the street. 2/9/2009 11:07:58 AM |
