is consistency.

I work in Durham where the overwhelming majority of folks are either Duke or UNC fans. As I walked in this morning, people were like "Hey man, NC State got a win last night, good job".

First of all, let me say that this was said in the most sarcastic of ways, so after I added "yeah, well fuck you", I thought to my self that the win was nice, but they are too few and far between for me to really get motivated about it.

This isn't a Fire Lowe, Blame Horner, Fergie looks like a beast thread...I am just posing a simple question.

At what point can we actually get excited about NC State Basketball? Now? I don't think so, not after blowing 2 huge leads in a row.

But if not now, when?

Love to hear what your expectations are of the program.

did this really deserve a thread? You should always be excited about the pack. Look at all the people on this site that paid for a game everyone thought was going to be a L.

if we have to get a 20 point lead and blow it to barely win all season just to shut people up for the off season, I'll take it. Nobody expected us to be good this year which i one reason its so frustrating that people get up in arms about us losing games or blowing leads.

if we're still doing it next year, then we can talk. until then, lets just see how it plays out. Sidney could have easily lost the team after the VT loss but he didnt. I think thats more telling than anything.

I mean personally I'm sick of all the huge leads being given up. As soon as we hit 20 points I told my gf to start the countdown till the game is tied. Thankfully it never made it that close but all the same it was incredibly predictable. At the same time, who would've expected us to even have a 20 point lead against Wake Forest? While it sucks that we gave up the lead who even thought we would stick around with Wake Forest enough to win? We won, and I'll be excited about that. The fact that we even have had these leads this season tells me the potential is there, it just has to click. I'm hoping this win will be a huge confidence builder for the team, they finally got over the hump at the end and won. Maybe now we can start holding those leads a little longer.

This team reminds me of Sid's first season, where we sucked ass the majority of the year but slowly started gelling towards the end, only to make a miracle run at the ACC title.

I'm not saying that's my expectation for this year, but I do see some similarities in terms of how we are performing. We can beat almost anyone in the nation. I for one would not want to play this team if I was highly ranked/in a tournament.

Seriously?

Players get tired and we do not have a talented bench.

bullshit

We run as many players deep as any other team and it's not as if it's the same players giving up the leads every time.

we didn't seem to have the problem when we only played 6 players.

Are you talking about Sid's first year? Because if so, that year was plagued with us fading at the end of ballgames and sucking during the regular season.

Okay once again, we run as many players deep, but these players are not nearly talented as other team's benches are.

I've been a State fan for a long time now. Any time we win it is a pleasant surprise. I never expect us to win, especially in basketball.

Also it's nice not having to see any NCSU fans crying over a lost game on national television. Here at NCSU we don't cry, we just get more pissed off.

^^ Ok, that would work if our starting five was the one that built the lead and then our "less talented" guys come in and blow the lead. That's not what happens though.

It's been different guys each time a lead has been built and then different guys each time blowing it for us. There could be a thousand reasons for why we shit our pants every time we have a lead, but being tired isn't one of them.
