I like Raleigh (well NC in general). I've lived in some pretty cool places like the NYC metro area and the San Fran metro area and I'm planning on moving back to NC to get started with my career/life.

Why I miss Raleigh:
- Quick access to the Hurricanes games
- Zaxby's
- Amedeo's
- Crabtree/Cary Towne Center
- Umstead Park
- An abundance of people my age
- WRAL news

Thing's I do not miss:
- I-40 and the Beltline at certain times

Granted I live in Burlington so I take I-40 and Bryan to work but it is substantially easier than I-40/I-440 were. But this is also due to the I-85 bypass.

I probably should have phrased it to read that I miss knowing where to find people my own age. Burlington is a pretty small place and Greensboro is a bit out of the way and unfamiliar.

^^ Yeah but the percentages are different. More younger people in Raleigh than say a Florida retirement town

do you guys associate city skylines with what there is to do there? the whole book by the cover thing?

we're practically neighbors (at work)

but from where i live in greensboro, i hardly ever use the freeway. actually now that i think about it, i NEVER go to the part of town south of 40 (except out by the airport but that doesnt count cause 40 comes way up there on that side of town).

if that makes sense. thats pretty interesting now that i look at a map. i hardly ever go to most sides of the city

it's like that in so many places. when i did the whole "i wanna move to arizona" thing and lived out there for a summer.... tucson was just like raleigh. it even has its own version of cary, and north raleigh.

i dont think you can escape sprawl in the US.

correct me if i'm wrong, cause i'd love to look into living there at some point

I, too, would love to escape the sprawl. Burlington reminds me of how Cary was 10-15 years ago and the sprawl monster is beginning to manifest itself.

NYC is big enough that you only notice suburban sprawl if you live in the suburbs

Jackleg should move to NYC

Was that city skylines comment directed at the picture? If so, I think the point of the pic went over your head.

hmm... it really depends on what you're getting at. i guess i can write out my train of thought there

was it "directed" at the picture? not at all

did the picture have anything to do with my thought and subsequent post? obviously. but only in the sense that seeing a skyline sparked the question

the context of the question was the thread and not the caption or guest stars in your pic

i am not insulting your picture, i hope i didn't hurt your feelings or anything

nyc is a big sprawl fest with the sprawl being highly populated.

so its awesome. Even way out in Bay Ridge or Jackson Heights is more city like that anywhere in the north carolina.
